It has been so long that the original thread I posted was closed.

I'm not sure how to post the link.....I'll get to that later. Plan is still roughly the same

Car as it sits today. The Hudson is the direction I think I'm going with the trim pieces, or at least some of them

I had a buddy growing up. Started working in his parent’s grocery store at 12. (Back when you could do such things). The day after HS graduation, he paid cash for a Superbird at our local Chrysler-Plymouth dealer. (Back when you could do such things)

I had a sore neck for a week after he took me for a ride. That kind of torque w/o real headrests was a bad combination. I’m happy to relate Ralph nonetheless lived a long happy life. No idea what happened to the Superbird. I imagine he sold it after his few couple of speeding tickets.

When I ordered the rims, I was looking for same dimensions I had on the car currently. They got built as 16" vs 15", how this happened I don't know, it was a long time ago, pre covid for sure.

I ordered the same tires I had on the car. I get a call from the shop installing the new tires on the new rims, letting me know the rims were 16". Somehow they had managed to get one of the tires half on, miraculously without damaging the rim.

The rim sat, tire half on, half off until today. I have ordered new 16" tires, so it was time to get the tire off the rim. A sawzall and dremel, and off it is. Note the mop bucket to hold things up!

Since the car hasn't been running right, and it sat for quite a bit, I decided to rebuild the carbs. Fairly straighforward, most of the time spent was on cleaning.

And losing a part, I've searched online and can't seem to find an assembly video of an EMPI carb.

I lost this split washer in the pic, I can't really even see what it was there for. Does anyone know what this part of the carburetor is called, maybe a more specific search will yield a better result.

They are part of the choke mechanism.

If you block off the choke mechanism I think you don't need them(but I'm not 100% sure).

I AM 100% sure that your car won't run right if one is missing. I am sure that it disappeared when you took the carb top off, 100%!

Empi carbs made today don't even have passages machined under them.

It made me think of when I took the carb top off, I never checked the gasket. Sure enough I just went and checked, and there's the washer embedded into the gasket hole! I spent an hour looking for the damn thing the other day.

You're lucky - @Lane Anderson is still looking for his "Brass Thingie" in his garage.

It's been several years now, for him, and still no "Thingie".   ☹️

There once was a "Brass Thingie" award for Perseverance, which was to be a "traveling" award presented at the yearly Carlisle gathering and passed from recipient to recipient.  I believe the last recipient was @edsnova (Lord knows, after so much time spent on his Spyder, he deserved it), but I have not been a Carlisle regular for a few years so I don't know where it is.

But!, and since I made the award in the first place to give to @Lane Anderson after his personal Thingie ordeal, this is what it looks like.  BTW, That is a Gen-U-ine Porsche Pre-A Brass Thingie right there......
