Great job!  Steve at SAS and I discussed your situation a few weeks ago and had quite a debate on how you should proceed.  Apparently, whatever you did worked and you should have a good story for other poor souls trying to register an SAS in CA.  Was there an ultimate secret that got you over the hump?

I guess that puts you up there with Frank and Elvis by doing it "my way."

I've heard that CA can be a PITA. I just sold a 67 912 to a guy in CA from TX.

I don't know what hoops he has to go through. Sold it on Ebay. and he never really communicated with me, sent money and a truck..

TX is rather ez to get stuff registered in. Anything older than 24 yrs is emission exempt. So no "smog" just flash the lights and beep the horn (antique tags are no inspection, just drive it, limited of course.) TX, if it has a title, (any state) is a breeze to get done. My CMC had a AZ title. TX registered it as a 57 Porsche conv. and used the CMC s/n on the body.
