Hi i am writing from Denmark,Europe.

I finally got a kit to build - a long dream come trough.
I bought a kit from the former Chesil now called Tygan located in UK.
It is a 2+2 kit, where they have made a special backseat with room for reel seatbelt - so now the kids can go for a ride together with us parents.

it is going to be cremewhite when it is finished.

the VW pan have been sandblasted and coated with a zinkmetal coate.
the interior will be in a cognac leather, and there will be mounted a Motolita rivited wood steeringwheel.
There is also coming windup windows.

Hi TC

Picture 18 is how it looks at the moment.
and regards to the 2+2 option, then it is not extended the pan is shortened by 10.75 inches, but they made changes to the backseat area so they have been able to move it back about 4 inches, so the kids can sit in the back and still have some room for the legs.
And there is mounting post for 2 reel seatbelts.
thanks all of you for your kind feedback on this project

this is the first time for me to build and work with cars - so it is a study in "learn by doing2 - and it is great fun

The engine is a standart 1300 F engine - but the plan is to, in time, to upgrade it to a 1600 with dual karbs.
I am not planning (yet ;-)) to build a racer, but only a summercruser for the familie.

Cold beers are waiting if any should appear at my addresse in Denmark :-)))

Next week i am going to get the car approved - so it is very interresting how this will proceed - more to follow :-)
Jesper:

You must be so excited!! Putting all of the trim bits back on will make it look instantly finished and makes it all worthwhile.

It looks like you are having a wonderful time building your new toy!

Enjoy the build process, and remember to come back here if you have any questions. I'm sure someone on here can help!

@lane

Marty is right, the lighting from the flurecent light makes it look yellowish

but it is a really beautifull ivory white - just love it

i am currently installing windup windows - a bit of a fiddel to mount not much room to work in, in the doors.
but i guess it all worth it :-)

Would be cool to meet up in the states for a cold beer and talk speedsters :-)

YES! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Come to the International Kit Car and Import show at Carlisle, Pennsylvania this coming May!!!

Fly into Philadelphia and rent a car from there, or maybe someone on here or the other web sites would be willing to give you a ride. Check out the "Events" section of this site or look over at the Carlisle Speedster/Spyder Meet site here: http://www.speedstershop.com/viewtopic.php?t=894

Decent hotel, great restaurants (we do a different cruise to a semi-local restaurant every night and have a big deal dinner on Saturday with a guest speaker from the industry), lots of beer, lots of Speedster talk and lots of Speedsters to look at (and ask questions of). Plus, this year we're looking into side trips to the local Wine Country and a visit to the Harley Davidson Motorcycle factory in York, PA.

Typically, we get about 50+ Speedsters (and one Spyder, but we're encouraging more) each year for this 4-day event. You'll learn far more in this one weekend than you could mucking around looking at magazines for a year.

Come on over! With the dollar this low, it'll probably never be cheaper!!!!

We'll be even bigger in 2008!!
Now i got the top on the speedy - looks good :-)
just need to clean up the rearwindow for protectionpaper

Just waiting to get the cognac leather for the dashboard, so i can complet the dashboard.

After that i need to weld the fittings for the reel seatbelts mounting for the rear seat.

the it is just to installe the carpets and front seats - and then im ready for spring :-))))

btw, the colur of the car is a RAL1015 HELLELFENBEIN

Hey Jesper, I am based in the U.K, and am also currently building a Tygan kit, I was wondering how you have got on getting your parts from Tygan?? I ordered my deluxe body last July and am still waiting for the roof and windscreen to be delivered, plus other parts. Any build tips you have would also be great! Darren
Hi darren

we have a dealer of Tygan Kits based here in Denmark, so that is how i got it here - he has been a great help in getting the items from Tygan.
The reason for me to choose Tygan, is that they are the only manufacture that makes the Speedster with a real backseat plus the windup window option (appart from Pilgrim's long 4 seater).

It has really been a challenge to get the kit, and all the parts.
when i ordred the kit in November 2006 it was chesil, and i was promised the kit in Feb. 2007.
but then Chesil went bankrupt, and i had to wait to see if some positiv happened - luckly Tygan bought everthing and i was able to get the kit in Aug. 2007 (allmost a year later).

When i recieved the kit, the hood, backseats, leather for dash, some plastic cover for front seats and some other things was missing.
After alot of mails, i finally got all of it except i am still waiting for rearseat cusins and leather for the dash - but should be ready today for shipment.

You are more than welcome to email me if you have questions aboute the build - schakenda@hotmail.com
And you can also see more build photos at http://www.schakenda.dk/images/Jespers%20hule/Kitcar%20projektet/index.html
