firewall air vent, anyone put ducting on other side of firewall

car came with air vent but on the other side of wall is the oil cooler on a thermostat. oil gets hot, fan goes on and all that hot air is sucked thru the vent im assuming.
anyone did any ducting over axle and down.

Not the best idea to have the air pass through the cooler, become warm and then continue to the fan inlet. Need clean cool air into the fan inlet to keep the temps down. A ducted hose from the inlet to the chassis and a "scoop" type piece attached to a duct hose is key. You can find an aluminum piece at Lowes or Home Depot, it is used for home forced got air heat. ~Alan

its starting to get warm here in sacto. should i duct tape over hole temporarily until i decide what to do. the decklid has the louvres for extra air.

It wonl't blow up the way it is , the additional ducting will make things run cooler though.

I did what Alan suggested. Got a piece of 4" alum. flex duct. Cut it at an angle and pop riveted it to the opening. It runs down the passenger side wheel well to under the B-pillar where it scoops up cool air. It blocks most of the heat from the cooler and feeds cool air to the fan inlet.

Bill - if you re-route that ducting to the passenger side and put it on the roll bar, it would be just like last years Porsche LMP2 RS Spyders - I'm just sayin'.......

I'll try to get a shot this week. Gotta pull a wheel to reveal the duct.

Has anyone tried a NACA duct??? I found many types on eBay.

I was thinking of using a dual one with 3" hoses going to the inlet and the oil cooler.
