My '78 IM has no seal between the firewall and the front engine tin. The gap is several inches, which seems too great for the stock VW seal. What options do I have here?

Masking tape first, then expandable foam... Ha Ha Ha, just kidding.
8). Someone had a really hot/cool idea. They used welders blanket. I thought that was the most flexible, and functional, mod.

For a permanent fix buy the correct tin and trim it to fit (or make a piece from sheet metal), and use one of the rubber seals between engine and the car. You'll neeed to remove the engine.
Don't use anything temporary that could get sucked into the fan intake.

Chuck, I built a sheet metal fairing to close a gap between my firewall and engine, then used type 4 gasket to seal it off. If you need more info email me at carumba356@c-zone.net. Eddie
