Give me 4 hours with pretty much any of these cars, and I will have it so it does not leak. Well, except the ovbious problems with side curtains sealing to a speedster windshield.
Heck my car once developed a leak. It was weird because it hadn't leaked for the first 10,000 miles. Then all of the sudden it was leaking. It was a mother to find. Turned out a weld had cracked in a cover plate in the wheel well. Water would come of the tire and then seap into the crack then it would follow a bizzare path before it made it to the cockpit. No light method would work, but if you take your time and are systematic, you will find even a bizzarre leak.

Steve,
I honestly thought you were going to say it developed a leak when a small crack developed in the rear clip. :)

Hey, it still ran and drove, but it looked pathetic. After the accident it leaked BIG TIME.
I spoke at length with the owner at Carlisle. He had no leak issues. Remember his is a pan based car and the green coupe is a tube chassis.

Tom,
I recall that there were other issues with this silver car, even if leaking wasn't one of them. From your conversation with him do you recall what they were and if he had them sorted out?

Actually, he told me at Carlisle that he was taking in some water around the windshield.
Saw this car at Autohaus last week when the owner brought it in (I think on consignment)
Looked great.

I wish him luck on the sale. John (the owner) should leave a card in the glove box that has Speedsterowners.com written on it. Imagine how big a help that could be to the new owner?
Stephen---your email address shown on your profile doesn't work for me. Is it correct? Can you email me at hsbroker@aol.com so I can ask you a question? Thanks!---Jack

Best to contact John Magyar 757-340-1989 in Virginia Beach (not John Steele) directly. He is a very straight up guy. He was pretty confident his car was now pretty well sorted out. Issues were shocks and wiring I think, but he could tell you best.
My sense of it was he was just fed up with JPS and the fact he had to get all his issues handled himself. When I spoke to John Steele, at Carlisle, Steele tried to tell me I was the only one with coupe issues. When I cited coupe #1 as a reason he should be helping me, he blamed all the issues on John M. Sound familiar? It's easy to get frustrated and want to never deal with Steele again in that kind of situation, especially if any family members are not keen on continuing. - Don't ask me how I know.
As the fix-the-green coupe crew keeps reminding me - these cars are not rocket science. The issues can ALL be resolved. If his remaining issue is just some water at the windshield - (which I did not hear about) - that should be an easy fix.
One thing is sure. If you need help with anything - this group IS the place to come to. Someone will have an answer and/ or find someone who will. ASK ME HOW I KNOW!

Sorry, that email was more then a year old. Sorry to anyone else who I ignored, but in reality didn't get the email from.
Glad to hear it's getting sorted out, Tom.
I can promise you that the phrase "Pride in Ownership" will have a different meaning from now on.

Looking good for Tom, then. John's went for the $25K bid, so he should get $24K for the green one with no problem!
