Hello, I acquired a Black 55 Fiberfab wide body deluxe Speedster Californian that was manufactured and delivered in 1990. The entire contents is in original packaging besides the body. It included all paperwork, receipts, instructions, as well as a collection of magazines all with speedster specific articles in them. Everything has been preserved in climate controlled storage.

I have been restoring building modifying German, British, and Italian cars for some time and have experience with all aspects of the processes involved in working with cars.

I have had a few 911's and currently have a 66 912 among numerous other non-Porsche cars.

I have a few questions and would like to see if my recipe is on the right track.

I am shortening a very clean 75 standard type 1 vw chassis.

I have a late bay type 2 2.0 rebuilt long block.

I am installing adjusters on the beam and will run drop spindles as well.

I have a complete brake system off of a 924 turbo (931) or complete 993 set.

I have Koni's for all four corners.

I plan on running pretty low with 16" staggered Fuchs.

Any advice on:
where specifically to weld in the adjusters
how many splines to drop in the rear
advice on spacers or in general on wheel width
gel coat treatment to clean and polish it...marine supplies
2.0 type 2 engine fitment..stock tins...rear brace
trans choices 74 super 4 speed...5 speed 912....4 speed rancho built street trans
half moon racing (style) windshields
6 gauge Vintage (optional) cluster package that came with it...or VDO's from the collection

any advice, criticism, compliments, sarcasm, technical data, reference would be great.

I am going to Carlise on Friday. I live in Md in but have a house in La Jolla, CA so I am planning on going to the Huntington show.

I found most of the info I was looking for on the sight but wanted to lay out my specific plan to see if anyone had experience with the combo i'm using.

I finished the chassis last night and will be dropping the body on today to check final fitment.

i am also going to mount up the 924T brakes as well. After doing the math the 993 set-up may be overkill given the final power to weight ratio. I believe in lots of stopping power but have raced a few cars that had too much braking and don't like the feel.

Wow, Looks like you have things pretty well planned out already.

One opinion I have is on the gauges: I personally recommend VDO. The Vintage ones are pretty, but I think their quality and durability don't match VDO.

As far as esthetics, the VDO gauges just look more serious, too. (strictly an opinion of course, depending on the styling of your build)
Thanks.....the car is here in Md. i am located in Ashton, md. The original owner did only one thing to this car and ironically it was cutting holes for the Vintage gauges.
I was skeptical about installing them with the same concerns you have about them. They are cheesy.....sorry if you have these!!!!
Type 2 is a vw bus the later models had a pancake "type 4" motor. There are several different 2.0l models with different specs...
I will check you guys out at Carlise.

I may show my 348 but not sure.
