No. Wait. That's Dr. Lauras's show.

My name is Fisher. First time owner, long time drooler. I thought I would introduce myself and say Hi before posting in other topics.

Flashback. No, not the Timothy Leary kind.

I think it was about 1966 that I kept searching the local papers for a used Porsche speedster and every once in awhile one would pop up. Back then I could find them for as little as $500. I knew I could do the repairs but never had enough dough to make a purchase.

Fast forward to 1976.

I had an opportunity to purchase a restored driver from a neighbor that once belong to Chick Iverson, a VW and Porsche dealership in Newport Beach. Asking price was an outrageous $26K. I offered $14K. I am a bit of an optimist.

Present day.

I am still a little short on the needed $150k to pick one up.

So, Happy Birthday to me. I purchased a 2004 Vintage Speedster back in May 2013. And I'm stoked.

Here's what I purchased.

2004 Vintage Speedster

Built on a 1968 chassis

1776 cc engine

Dual Carb

Front Disc Brakes

3:88 trans

Leather interior (smells sooo goood!)

5,000 miles

(just ordered the cocomats with the 10% discount. Thanks for posting the code).

I'm located in Costa Mesa, CA 92627

I wasn't prepared for the attention that I receive when driving this car. The Honks, Thumbs up, People wandering around and taking pictures, Requests to go for a ride, tailgaters, Headlights flashed, Tits flashed, (OK. I just made that one up but it's gonna happen. I just know it will).

It's awesome to find such a knowledgeable and experienced group and many of my questions have already been answered.

I'm having a great time already.

Welcome to The Madness, Fisher!! Glad to hear you get a kick out of driving your car! There are a LOT of SOCers in our area (OC) so keep an eye on the 'Events' thread for upcoming cruises! BTW- if you don't already have a repair shop in mind (should the need arise) I go to Unique Imports in Mission Viejo. They've always taken good care of my VS!

Weather forecast for this weekend is clear skies & mid-70s temp, let me know if you'd like to hook up at Cars & Coffee (kinda early) or a late morning cruise (10-11:00), I'm up by Newport Coast!

^^ I like this guy...

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I will post a couple pics in a few days.

Musbjim- I probably have passed you at some point in the neighborhood. I'm pretty sure I have seen your car with that license plate on the road.

I was born and raised in Corona del Mar and still spend a majority of my time there or at Crystal Cove.

I have not attended a Car and Coffee yet. I will put it on the list of things to do.
