So this CMC speedster I snagged is pretty clean and the prep seems ok elsewhere. However, there is a pivot/bushing that is in the center of the engine, with linkages going to each carb. The bracket looks home made and is an aluminum tube, with all thread running through it! Is there a pre made clean looking linkage setup ai can buy? I'm not sure what carbs it has either. I'll get you guys some pics.

KW - congrats on picking up that Speedster. Now the fun (Madness) begins. Probably best to refit your set-up with an updated replacement.

Every VW owner has at some point had to McGuyver a repair job while on the road. Throttle/linkage are common culprits. Case in point is the repair pictured below. Broken throttle cable with no spare (200 miles from home). Add 1 shoestring and off we go (made it all the way home, and then some)...


IN fact, that repair was made by Jim in 2004 and because of a hectic social schedule AND an innate laziness, he's STILL running with that cobbled-up thing TODAY!

ok, I'm kidding........He finally fixed it with Duct Tape and his pocket knife last week.

But his cobbled linkage is THE reason that Lane Anderson changed over to that same bell-crank linkage on his car.
