I have used both the Permatex and JB Weld windshield chip repair kits with great success. Take your time, follow the instructions and be scrupulously clean throughout the process. I got invisible repairs that lasted years, in fact the cars I had used it on were sold after years of use in wild temperature swings and still were invisible repairs. My MINI was a windshield-rock-magnate and I did 4 repairs this way on chips as big as a quarter.

Do it soon so you don't have a crack start from the chip to the edge of the windshield. Once you've done the repair you won't need to worry about that.

I have used the jBW windshield chip repair kit with great success on my Q7 and Honda.   As mentioned above take your time and make sure everything is clean before you start. One chip was dime sized.  Invisible to others, but I know where to look and I can see it if i really really look.  No complaints…

My insurance policy now covers the chip repairs, so lately I just have safelite come to my home and repair dings- they basically do the same thing/ follow same process.
