I was in Indianapolis for the USGP,and on the race day a lot of car clubs had their cars on dislpay on the back straight.I saw a light blue flared conv. D there.Any idea who owns that car.It had Indianapolis licence plates. Also Superformance the "cobra" builder are selling Beck speedsters. They had a silver one on display. That was outside the track.

All the Michelin-equipped cars pulled out because of tire separation in some practice rounds. I think that their engineers failed to consider the extra stress of a high-speed transition to one of the banked portions. Hell, this is only the 6th year at Indy, you think that they'd have figured it out by now. Anyway, there was some disagreement on how to rectify the problem from a safety standpoint. There was some discussion about adding a chicane before that section but evidently all concerned had to agree. Word is that the Ferrari camp refused to play-- resulting in the 6 car fiasco. A travesty for F1 and especially the US fans/following.
The guys at the Gym this morning were talking about this and saying how it probably spells the end of F1 racing in America. I said that it died about 10 years ago when everyone split into the IRL and CART and then couldn't agree on anything......

I was always amazed at how incredibly big F1 racing was whenever I traveled to Europe and at the huge fan turn-out and media hoop-la. At least it's a (relatively) short drive to Canada to see F1 racing, and then there's always the lesser events all over the USA....
