Hi Folks,

Do you still have the recesses in your floor?

I was contemplating chopping them out and replacing with a flat section with some beads rolled in. would get rid of the nasty looking joint caused by the shortening.

Will it cause headroom issues? I know that a UK manufacturer would supply a precut ply subfloor to deliver a flat floor....

Cheers

"precut ply subfloor" - like in plywood used on the the old MGA floors? I think even thin metal replacement pans would be better than that. (Most aftermarket ones are thinner than OEM ones). I've toyed with idea of replacement fiberglass floor pans (at least one place makes them). With new adhesives it could be chemically welded to center tunnel and fiberglassed rest of the way around.

Don't cut anything out. The stamped ribbing add strength to the sheet metal. Stay away from the wood idea also. Wood will retain moisture thus creating corrosion. If you want the flat look try some close cell foam. It it can be cut with an electric knife. It also creates a great noise/sound break.
