I'm taking a roadtrip soon with my motorhome to the beach to beat the summer heat. I have a towbar for the Speedster and a wireless trailer light system so I don't need to mess with the car wiring to get brakes and turn signals. Plug and Play !

I am looking for tips from anyone who has experience towing their Speedster  behind their motorhome , anything I should know or be aware of., or misc. advice Thanks !

I didn't do it with a motorhome. But I did flat-tow for years with various cars.

I ran a wire through the car, and put a connector under the beam. I simply added a 3 or 4 foot extension to the tow vehicle and used the existing taillights. I believe you're supposed to put a "car in tow" sign on the vehicle. I used blue masking tape and Sharpie.

Other than making sure you're in neutral, E-brake off, and having a safety chain from the beam to the tow vehicle, it's pretty easy.

The only real tip you'll need: DON'T EVER BACK UP! That's it.

And I'm guessing some other method of attachment will be needed other than magnets for that remote lighting system....

A Speedster flat tows easily - that you'll forget it's back there.  DON'T forget its back there -- and check that it is there every once and a while.

You have a front bumper so most likely the VW tow bar will have to be slightly narrowed (maybe 2") to clear there the bumper brackets attach to H beam.  I cut the welds on std VW tow bar, pulled arms in and rewelded (adding bolts and a threaded rod).  I towed behind a 4WD Toyota 4Runner using a height adjustable HF hitch receiver.  Also towed 1k miles behind a 4 cyl AT Toyota Camry.  I didn't lengthen the arms - narrowing the tow bar maybe resulted in a couple inches more length.  Behind an RV a couple extra feet would probably be appreciated since Speedster will be hard to see.  I used the cheap HF magnetic tow lights - secured with duct tape.

Man, those Appearance Group wheels look great on a Speedster! (Something you won't hear me say often)

Make sure you put some 3M paint protective film or similar between the lights and the paint. DAMHIK.

You probably already have your tow configuration all figured out. FWIW, here is the tow bar I modified for towing my VS behind our SUV. Click on pics to enlarge.

Lengthened standard VW tow-bar to 73" to eliminate any issue of turning too sharply when VS is in tow. Cross braced to eliminate any flexing of tow bar.DSCN4185

Modified rise in tow bar to keep tow bar level when attached to taller SUV and lowered Speedster.Tow 2 [1)

Used two blocks of 2"x4" and placed under tow bar to act as a fulcrum. 2"x4"s positioned properly, the downforce from the weight of the tongue would lift the tow bar up to the torsion tube for easy attachment. Eliminates using 1 arm to struggle with tow bar while trying to insert tow pins into tow bar receptacle.20180619_081501_resized

Used large key rings on tow pins to facilitate removal of tow pins. Kinda like a grenade pin.20180629_092853_resized20180629_093148_resized

Located tow lights on my luggage rack so they were more visible at eye-level of drivers behind us.DSCN2995

When towing I could not see the Speedster behind us. I attached  an old CB antenna to my tow light assembly so that i could at least see that the Speedster was following properly. I realize this would be a different scenario being towed behind a larger RV.DSCN2996

Hope you find this info helpful. Have fun on your road trip!
