I was wondering if fog lamps and bumper guards are needed.  I am not completely sold on the looks of either, but if they make the car safer then I'd be all for them.  When it comes to the fog/driving lamps, are they needed to obtain proper visibility?  Or are the headlamps typically adequate?  For the bumper guards, are these just cosmetic? I don't see what they add to safety.

Curious as to the thoughts, and perhaps some pictures showing your set up.

The bumper guards are attached thru the fiberglass (non-reinforced) bumper to the metal T bumper bracket with a single bolt so they offer the illusion of added protection.  They offer a finished look and are easy to install - if you like the look.  Fog lights produce a diffused beam of light for us in foggy conditions - I like them when driving in the country to see deer feeding along the road side.  A better investment in name of safety would be replacing old incandescent headlights with European H4 conversion headlights. If you don't drive in the fog or mist you can install driving lights instead (hi-intensity bulbs are available).  With either fogs or the driving lings be sure to install properly using a relay so you don't burn out a light switch and get full voltage to the lights.

You can see both on my Avatar.
