Here's a bargain. NLA has reproduction 356 fog light switches for the bargain basement price of a mere $289.00. (NOT a typo)

I like the switch because it matches the other switches plus it has a center light that shows when the fog lights are on. It is a very fine item but maybe for $75.

Has anyone found a better price on these switches---is there a good alternate? Thanks---Jack

If you're looking for a really neat switch to use as a fog light switch, use the rear window defrosted switch and knob from a VW Type II. It lights when in use, and if you remove the rubber "grip" and sand it lightly, then paint it, it looks like an ivory VW dash knob with a colored top.

Very neat, almost stock. I made one for the 356SC. If you want a pic of one all finished up, I can post it for you.

For a genuine Porsche "look", you can drill out any 356 knob, fit a small colored plastic gel into the hole on top and an VW emergency flasher knob "stem" into the bottom. Then use a VW emergency flasher switch without the flasher relay for a constant-on when the knob is pulled.

OR, sand down a '67 Type II emergency flasher knob to remove the white lettering on top. Use a paper punch to punch out a circle of masking tape and place it on top of the knob. Paint the knob cream, remove the masking tape and clear coat the knob. Again, use an emergency flasher switch without a relay for a constant-on lighted knob when pulled.

Lots of alternatives to spending that kind of coin., just gotta get your hands dirty.

Here are the knobs. I'm using VW knobs throughout the SC, mostly because I just like them better. There's more elegance in the concentric rings and domed top than there is in the stock 356 mushroom-style knob. Seems weird that the VW knob would be cooler than the 356, I know. But it's true.

WAY COOL KNOBS!! Better than I imagined. You could sell a pile of thise on ebay. Got any extras you'd part with?

Gordon--I want a seperate switch for the fog lights---I really don't want them on when I'm driving through a well-lighted town. I have the Marchals on the way as well as the NLA mounts. All I need is a wiring kit and a switch. Gettin' there---Jack
Gordon-

I've got my lights wired without any additional switch, as follows:

First pull out (running light position)- headlights, running lights (I never run running lamps alone). Bright switch brings on bright lights only.

Second pull out (normal headlamp position)- headlights, running lights in normal position. Hitting the bright light switch brings on the brights, and the driving lamps (which I have yet to mount).

It's an easy and elegant solution since I never drive with the running lamps only on.
"WAY COOL KNOBS!! Better than I imagined."

OK, now I'm both flattered and hurt at the same time . . . I can hook you up with a knob and switch for your fogs, lights, whatever. Kinda over booked with work, the Holidays and helping out with my Father's needs.

I'll put together some knobs and switches after Christmas, and go from there, OK?
