Hi all,

I am new of course to the forum and the world of Speedsters. I recently purchased a second hand Replica of a '57 Speedster that was built in 2004 by Vintage Speedsters of California with an upgraded 2.2 Liter engine. There are a few things I wouldn't mind adding to the car and thought maybe someone might have a few words of wisdom to share. First off, I am thinking of adding some clear fog lights (not the yellow ones) to the front bumper (or rather having a mechanic do the labour). Does this involve a lot of wiring and drilling? Can the fog lights be connected to the existing light switch or does a secondary switch need to be added to the dash? Secondly, I was wondering if anyone has ever added a back bench to a speedster that has an existing roll-bar in place? I have some unique seats as they are straight up and down narrow seats (not the usual buckets) with no sliders so they can not be adjusted and they have bracing bars running down behind the seats to the floor. It would make the bench if I put one in very small but may look better. Any comments?

Many fog lights come with a wiring harness with relay fuse and switch --- and a wiring diagram.  Couple holes in bumper - put large washers either side to prevent fiberglass from cracking.  Wired to battery and other to switch under dash.  Might need to add ground wires to light is there aren't 2 different color wires to each already. Many DMVs (police) require fog lights to be on with other lights and off with high beams. You can do it yourself.

While it's always hard to find total agreement, there are some recognized differences between fog and driving lights.  Fog lights usually cast a wider, shorter pattern of light, and are used, mainly at lower speeds, to penetrate the darkness without glareback that can occur with high beams or driving lights.  They can be left on when encountering oncoming traffic.

Driving lights are useful to lengthen the reach of the headlights, giving a longer, narrower pattern of light than fog lights.  They must be turned off when encountering oncoming traffic.

Thanks everyone,

The information was very useful. I will give it a try and probably look at using the brackets mentioned. May go with driving lights versus fog lights.
Thanks again.
