I have a "selection" of different "356 period" round fog and spot lights, Lucas, Marchal, and Bosch. Marchal was pretty much the choice of rallye driver types I knew back then and they look neat (yellow lenses) so I'll probably mount them up and see how they look. If it looks like too much yellow I can go with small Lucas spot and fog lights.

Wondering about mounting location - back then most round driving lights were mounted above and behind the front bumper (on a bracket off of the bumper mount), but I'm thinking below the bumper might look better (but be more vulnerable to rocks and road debris).

You guys with lights - how did you mount yours? One of these days I'll have it all the way I want it and take some pictures. Thanks...

A good share of the period photos show the lamps (or often a single lamp!) mounted on the car's body as you noted, but there are some that have a little raised bar mounted to the bumper brackets that go up, over and across to the other bracket.
They look sort of neat...it could also act like a badge bar I suppose...
But the the thing to keep in mind is a lot of the lighting was done on cars rallying/racing with no front bumper so there wasn't a front-end cluster-fuck of equipment!

I mounted my smaller set of amber lights directly ON the bumper...I had also added a set of Marchals but it looked way too myopic!
