Good Morning All -- Happy Friday.
I see that my original post from September is closed, so I'm starting a new post to give an update on my front end issues.
Y'all might remember that one of my front adjusting screws snapped, and I was unable to extract it from the beam -- even after procuring cobalt bits, machining oil, etc. In my last comments on the original post I said that my indie Porsche shop had agreed to have a go at it.
I did have it towed over to them, and it actually took him -- a decades-long racing mechanic -- about an hour to get it out and put another new screw in. And, he broke a few bits in doing so! So, it wasn't just me. That was one tough (albeit cheap) bolt!
After that, it was off to the paint shop to have the two damaged areas at the top of each front wheel well repaired. Each spot was about the four inches in diameter, and on one of arches the fiberglass had broken as well.
I remember during the past few months someone had inquired on here about having a small area painted on their car, and was concerned that it wouldn't match (or something of that nature). I'm here to report that in repairing these two spots, the painter blended in around the front of the car and then back over the doors just a bit. You can't tell a thing -- it's perfect. I knew this was possible, but as I use these pages for so much research, I wanted to document it here for someone else in the future.
I've completed a few other small projects with the car since then, but I'll stop here. And once again: THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP!
Oh, one last thing >> I commuted to work today in the car, and it was a glorious, bright morning, about 65 degrees. I just purchased a new JBL bluetooth speaker, I put in on the floorboard, and cranked Greg Allman all the way to the office. Dang, that little box rocked my car with its bass!
Have a great weekend, y'all!
