I don’t believe you did. I think that’s the crest for a 356 hood handle.
I don’t know if it’s what you’re looking for, but my Spyder, is much flatter and has two pins vs one.
Its part number for the Stoddards reproduction is SIC-559-210-20
I believe it’s also larger than the 356 hood handle one. It’s the same one that’s on 911s.
ps: If it’s real cloisonné I think you’ll shatter the enamel if you try to flatten it.
Can't tell form the photo but the flat crest does still have a minor curve to it, just not as much as a hood handle version. It is the same size and shape as the 356 hood handle crest, other than the curve. With the proper crest liner you really cant tell the difference once installed, so either will work although the flat version is ideal.
The 911/912 crest didn't exist until the mid-60s.
It is not the "correct" crest at all for a 550 or 356. If I see the larger 911 crest on a Spyder I can easily tell it's a replica.
As I've said before, I got the 356 hood handle crest. I got some epoxy circuit board and cut my own under liner(phenolic board is tough to get today). I made it slightly larger than the crest. The one pin works fine. I glued the under liner to the crest with a couple dots of silicone, and the same to the front trunk. A push nut on the inside and you're done.

Danny?
Will this work as a phenolic board liner? Thanks.

Yeah, I guess either it wasn't available back then or I didn't look hard enough.

Thank you. I didn't know if it was the same stuff. I admit I don't know anything about anything except what people tell me.
But then I can only believe half what I hear according to Marvin Gaye and those California raisins
we made a dye to cut tanned saddle leather for the crest liner. same color tan as the phenolic sheet and I just think leather backer is cool, albeit not "correct"
