Gordon, I have CMC top bows in your installation instructions using a VS top you state this:

"Got the bows straightened out by shortening the front 3/4" and the rear 1 1/2" on each side, which allowed me to use the CMC bow mounting positions. The VS top material is not quite as large (front-to-back) as the CMC, hence necessitating the shorter bows. This also gives a somewhat lower roofline "

When measuring for shortening the CMC bows where is the measurement taken from? The original holes or from the bottom of the bows?

I do not want to screw this up as I only have the two bows.

Measured up from the bottom of the end of the bow.

Poor picture, but you can see that I never cut off the ends of my bows (laziness overtook me) - I just drilled new holes and left it at that.

Thanks, Gordon that is also what I was thinking about doing...just drilling new holes in the bows. Clears up some issues.

Yeah, the way that the bows articulate on those little lever-thingies that tighten the top up, the ends never touch anything.
