My statement relating to time-to-build was incorrectly stated. We have pushed that many vehicles out in a short time, but increased our crew to almost 30 guys and multiple shifts to do so. We had a good amount of TR builds that were anywhere from 50% completed to never started that we committed to finish in short time frame. Our standard time to build a Speedster or Spyder is 8-12 weeks depending on detail of build, 10-12 weeks for a Coupe, and 16 weeks for a 904 GTS. We are building some special "bespoke" rides for some gents that will take considerably longer as they are high dollar and very special projects.

I'm not exactly sure what the video has to do with the thread topic, but it was great to watch..

A wise old guy once said "you get what you pay for"  I think this is true MOST of the time....

Mike is selling his 69K plus IM for 45K, this means he is willing to take at least a 25K hit.

Perhaps he got that back in the "Fun" factor or maybe he just has that kind of money to spare.

Whatever the real answer is, we find a way to justify whatever we do in life, & try not to look back.

This other guy broke even on his IM, I find that hard to believe if he bought it new....although there is another old saying.."there's a sucker born every minute"  buy a used one & you can actually make money, even on a Vintage, which I think we will all agree are the bargin in all this....

My point, I think, is that each of us finds a way to justify the money spent. there is no right or wrong,

these are all kit cars in the eyes of others, although my idea of a kit car is one that is actually built in a garage by a guy who bought the parts like a model in a hobby store. The stigma is similar to buying a salvage titled car to some.....

The main thing is to enjoy the hobby whether you drive an IM or a gay Miata like Gerdddddd

The key point, and I can't stress this enough, is DON'T modify it.  If you don't there is a good chance you will sell your used IM for what you paid for it, or darn close.

Damn, I wish I could listen to my own advice.

For comparison purposes, if someone went out and bought a new Boxster S five years ago, for around $75,000, what would that car be worth today?

The bottom line is that almost all new cars depreciate-some more than others.

I bought new the first go round and made a 30% return on my IM,but it ain't so easy to go used on a subi water cooled IM so I'm willing to pay for it and keep it long term. I don't know many cars that don't lose value once driven off the lot when you go brandy new..... You definitely get what you pay for.... Love the video Marty.....

That was awesome! Hey Mr. AC, I checked out your site... Some great pics... Looks like you guys are building some very nice cars... I have one critique of the site that I will send you in a "dialogue" ... If you know how to get those... Keep pumping out those beautiful replicas.....We need more speedsters in the world even if they are replicas.....

Custom options included in this 2006 custom build are to numerous to list. Some of which are a 2100 cc High performance engine built by CB Performance, ported with dual 44IDF Weber Carbs; roadster seats; Ac; power windows; 4 wheel disc breaks; custom suspension; luggage rack; car cover; ceramic coated custom Boxster exhaust and headlight grills and much more. This car is one of a kind! It has been entered into 2 car shows and has won first place in both!

Cost over $69K and I'm asking $46K.

Had a lot of cars. (check my list for some) My all time favorite was my Intermeccanica. Henry built it for me some years ago when 911 HP wasn't so common. 3.2 ltr motor, G50 trans, suspension and brakes form late '80's 911. Handled great. Drove great. Impeccable build quality. Paid $42,000 for it at the time (while back) sold it after enjoying it for 3 years for $65,000. I got poor for a moment or I never would have sold it. It'll just be another moment till I have Henry build me another. Mike's car is well worth the $. Can't go wrong. My 2 cents.
