Hey Russ; Give Henry a call and see if he will build the same car for $58,000 delivered to your house and have it for you in less than 7 months. I think he would probably tell you to buy the yellow speedster. I don"t think most people realize how much the dollar has tanked in the last 2 years. When I ordered this car in April 2005 the US dollar would buy 1.29 Canadian dollars now it won't even by 1 dollar.
The sweet spot was until early 2003- the Canadian dollar was about .65 US dollars until then. By June 2003 it was .75:1, in early January 2004- .80:1. The dollar hung out in that range for most of 2005 when I had my car built. By May 2006, it was .90:1. The bottom started dropping out in May of last year, and by Sept 20th- the Canadian dollar had reached parity.

That's almost 54% inflation in 5 years, figuring nothing but the devaluation of our currency. Intermeccanica's costs in Canadian dollars have doubtless risen as well- if you figure 3% annually over 5 years it figures out to 45% additional expense (inflation, like interest, compounds).

What does that mean? It means that the cost to buy a Canadian built car with US dollars should be twice what it was in early 2003 (5 years ago). Intermeccanicas are not twice as much now as they were then- but $46K for a really nice '06 with low miles is completely within reason.

Yeah, it's a lot of money. It's a lot of car.

BTW: I really like your garage/barn, Ralph.
David: My wife and I have sold our home in Tulsa and are preparing to move 50 miles away to our farm. At the present time my home is about 7 miles from my factory. Since the speedster is my daily driver I just don't want to put over a 100 miles round trip on the car each day. I have a garage at my office as well as at home so the car has always been kept out of the elements. If the weather is bad I drive one of our company vans or I con my wife into taking me to the office. I have owned 16 Porsches since I purchased my first 911 in 1976 and I can honestly say this car is as nice as any of the cars I have puschased from Porsche. The paint work and craftsmanship are first class.
Well Folks,

Here we are approaching a month or so since the posting of this gorgeous IM.

Has some fortunate devil bought it as of yet?
