I am once again in negotiation for a coupe.....
The only way I can make this happen is if I sell my speedster,
so.....once again it is 4 sail.....
I wanted 15k last time I posted but could be reduced to 14k if
someone brought me cash....
the motor/tranny has approx 1300 miles on it, I say approx because I drive it as much as possible.....
The only flaw on the car is typical dings from the road in front..
Had kirk fixed them once before, not expensive and color easy to match..
It has all the usual coverings and everything looks new....
See my profile for pic's and options........
It drives out fast and the new exhaust makes it sound like a monster..

Disclaimer: If by chance I sell MR356 the lic plates do not go with
car (they will end up on the coupe)and I will not be leaving this site
and Join a 356 club, Most of you know how I feel about Porsche owners.
I will be joining the usual suspects on local cruises as in the past..

Vince,

What sort of coupe are you eyeballing? Year, description, etc.?

I have sort of a weird combination coupe that I'm in the midst of and could use a little support/enthusiam/etc. thrown my way.

As a side note: THANK YOU!! To Gordon and wife for running my bumpers up to me and poking the little drag truck. He seemed a little put off by the rough edges but was VERY charming about it.

Again, THANKS!

TC
Kevin,
Thanks for the kind words....
I'm chomping at the bit for another run.....Leaving for Vegas tomorrow
afternoon, wanted to take the speedster but decided against it due to
the hot conditions through the desert, not for the car but for me....
would rather have comfort rather than adventure I guess....
being unemployed means I need not take chances that could cost me money needlessly, especially where the speedster is concerned, but it is a great runner, don't ever worry about it when on the road..
I know your thinking "Spending money needlessly, but going to Vegas"
Well it was planned long ago and most of the money is already spent,
except for food/drink/gambling, I do drink and food with the best of them, Gambling, I have learned to control, having 4 girls, and little
money....
When I return I will map out a path to Crestline that would be appropriate for our cars, and try planning a run for us....
Be thinking of a good date to do this.....I'll be in touch
I saw that beauty on Ebay! Just fell in love with the interior and those cool tunneled tail lamps. The stance is perfect isn't it?

My car is a 55 Continental Coupe but is also a collection of parts from other years and sources. I like the early coupes as well and kind of took a liking to the dash and bent windshield of the 54/55 cars. A little more prototype looking, and a lot more airplane(?) looking inside when they're stripped down for business. It's like they're crying out for drilled, bare aluminum, bomber-style seats . . . although the interior of that car on Ebay is what caught my eye.

Which ever way you do them up, it has to be Pre A or A when it's a coupe. Hope that you get it, it's beautiful.

TC
I can't believe you divulged your offer on that beauty before the deal closed. If I weren't so dead set on having a topless car or had an extra $18,000 lying around I'd scoop in on that. It may be heresy to say on this sight, but I think it's a much better looking car than the Speedster, but it may just be that the grass is always greener wherever I'm not. Good luck and I hope you get it.
Luke,
Thought about that, but if someone from this site does that to me,
and I find out who it is....well, I'm Sicilian and we get even...
Besides ebay only drew out 15+K, with altered taillights a big drawback, except as an outlaw...
There are always coupes available, and I doubt he will except anything
under the 19 he wanted originally anyway....
all said, timing is everything, and If I can sell the speedster
before He gets tired of waiting, fine, if not fine......
Vince;
I have a 1962 356T6 coupe, white, rebuilt engine, 912 cam, big bore kit, new tires, chrome wheels, not much of an interior, but original, strong runner; (2) exhaust systems available. Would like to finish interior and sell car, buy a Speedster replica...or trade outright. I live in NY on Long Island. customan@aol.com

OK, for those of you who don't know how to click on my handle...

My speedster has a 1914/388 for a power plant, with approx 100HP
It was rebuilt from a 1600 in January by Vintage Speedsters...
It has approx 1400 miles on the rebuild and drives out nice...
it also has dual Kadrons, with Kirks new Exhaust system installed
just before the June wine run...The car itself was built in 1999,
but shows almost no wear on the interior which is baypoint(tan)
carpeting is black, it has an AM/FM/CD for those of you who like
to rock...It also has the Banjo steering wheel which in my mind is what it should have.
The exterior is Ivory, and the only flaw on the car is
minor road rash in front because I actually like driving mine...
Ivory I'm told is the easiest color to repaint/match and I have
already had the small pin size road rash fixed once before, but
its impossible to keep the front totally clean if you drive it...
When/if you see the car you will realize this problem is a minor
one all things considered.... I have stone grilles covering the head lights. It comes with all the typical coverings, Tonnau/bra etc and they are all in great shape, because I take care of my stuff....
these are recent pic,s but you should go to my profile for additional pic's....if you want a very cool ride for minimum dinero call me
310-429-5838........I need cash, bring me cash in your hand and we can talk, I'm asking 14K........

I'm in Vegas at the moment, just checking the site to see if there was any action on my car, The coupe fell through, owner thinks
I should give him 10% deposit without seeing the car first, told him
I could be there monday with deposit once I saw the car........
He seems to think 17-18K isnt enough to worry about......
F him...Its in Phoenix, I was willing to drive there......
So naturally although the speedster is still available, I am somewhat
less motivated to sell, so if you don't have 14K don't bother me.....
According to the contact he was just the dealer trying to sell the
car for its real owner (consigment) and the real owner travels alot
didn't have insurance on the car and wouldn't let the dealer have
the car while he was out of town....who knows the real truth....
nice car and seems worth the money, but not very willing to work
with you....thats OK the'll be more......
Vince, I saw the car at Dunkle's in Feb. of this year I looked at it casually, but not as a serious buyer would have. I remember it due to the tailights. It looked good at 10 feet. The Ebay photos were foregiving and it was conservatively a #3 car. I would say you probably did well to pull out of the deal, JMO.
I'm sure everyone knows that digital photos are notoriously poor representations when it comes to judging a car's finish or often its overall condition. As a longtime photographer, I know how easy it is to shine up "a dud," take it out at dawn or dusk and snap some really beautiful digital pictures that will make it appear to be "a 10!" And don't even get me started about what you can do with Photoshop and similar programs.
Digital pictures can tell you if a car is thrashed, but generally, they won't tell you if a shiny car is going to need some serious ($) attention. Buyer beware, indeed. And, when it comes to cars on Ebay, buyer be-extremely-ware.
Dan,
Thanks for the input, Makes me feel better about my decision...
Looked sweet in the pictures, and the taillights didn't bother
me being different, but the guys attitude turned me off...
I really won't buy something I can't see first, again.
I did that with my ghia and think I overpaid by at least 500.00
no big deal, but I don't like being burned for 5.00 if I can
avoid it.....Thanks again bud.....
