Wow, what a good looking car. Someone took a lot of time to get it looking right.

With that, I kind of have to agree with Troy on this one. There are quite a few items on that car which are way outside of the norm for a Vintage built car.  The car may be vintage, but I don't know that it's a vintage Vintage.

As mentioned before, very little about that interior resembles something that came from Kirk. The dashboard, the door panels, the speedo, etc.  The interior is easily modified / upgraded to what you see today. That's fine.

What really strikes me is that it's missing the inspection plates on the sides. It seems really odd that if it were a Vintage of the vintage claimed - the plates would be there. You'd have to go out of your way to close those up. Not sure why you'd would remove them. By having them the car is more authentic vintage speedster than not having them. Short story? All Vintage and vintage speedsters have them.

The chrome trim on the sides is from Stoddard or Sierra Madre. No doubt in my mind. You'll notice it has the correct back bevel on the fender and opposite bevel on the door. Kirks trim is simply rounded off on both ends. He does NOT do the authentic bevels. It's possible the owner upgraded. Good for him if he/she did! Love that authentic trim.

Another item that is off is the front carpet. The Vintage carpet kit is a little bit better fitting that what's pictured.

Lastly - that hand stamped (reproduced) vin plate. I don't think Kirk does hand stamped vin plates. He usually just puts a little carpet window between the two seats so you can show the vin number to the nice man/woman at the dmw.

If it's a Vintage speedster, someone sure went thorough a lot of trouble and money to erase some of the tell tale Vintage (and vintage) touches.

Brian - if you think we're a tough crowd, try selling a questionable corvette to a 'corvette guy'.  They will nit pick the angle of a radiator hose clamp! You won't get that here... oh wait... you might. There are a few water pumpers on this board.

Good luck with the sale, it's  really pretty car.

You should see what happens when someone new asks which Speedster model is better!

Jim, I thought we settled this dispute a while back.  Didn't we all agree that  Intermeccanica made the best replica speedster?

That is a nice looking car.  I have always like the Silver/Black look.

Not sure but with the back bumper holes filled in, the inspection holes might have been done at the same time.  My car's last owner spent a lot of money on the 2176, but didn't upgrade the carbs (why would you not? I don't know, I fixed that right away).  Even with the motor change in my car, the curly alternator wire is still there, one of those, why replace what is not broken.  I don't think that it is a VS.

I do have to agree that for only 3k the pedal rubber should be a lot nicer, but years ago on my Ghia, I had bought some cheap pedal rubber (Tiawan maybe) that lasted about 6k (2 valve adjustments).

Best of luck with selling.

I'm not positive, but I think the bodies come without the bumper mount holes and they are cut in by Vintage.  Are they there on a CMC body?

No Idea.  I have a VS and it has them.
