Have you reviewed the photo upload procedures? To get to them, click on the "settings" button on the top of the page, then "click here for help" on the bottom of the settings screen. The top of this page and it gives a full description of how to do it. Often, the reason that photos do not upload is because they are too large. For a non-contributor, the rules are more strict in terms of size limitation.
