I bought this a few weeks ago after seeing it on eBay for $10,500, plus shipping, from Princeton Porsche in New Jersey. It is white on red. Needs a little more work than I can do but it is my understanding from speaking to Alan Merklin that most of you guys can do all the work that is needed yourself (need transmission bushing and mount, a couple of wheel bearings repacked, etc.). The car seems solid and with all the parts, but given my lack of skills and the fact I was looking for a car a I did not have to spend one minute or dime on, I went on and bought the white wide body speedster that Alan had sold last year and will be picking it up in Ohio next week. I am located near Lexington, KY. You can also go back a few post and find one that Drclock posted for a speedster and 550 for sale on eBay to find the old eBay link for pictures or email me and I will send to you (I can not figure out how to add to posting). Before I put the on eBay let me know if there is any interest. Thanks

Denise, that is the speedster I just purchased, the one for sale is this one. I have not even got see the wide body Alan built and shown in your picture, but I hope to pick it up within the week. Anybody that has seen the wide body I would love to hear from you. The one for sale is built off a 1974 VW and has a 1974 engine that appears to be from California. It is a 1600 and does have dual carbs.

Mike,
I have personal experience with a car built by Alan Merklin. He is affectionately known as "Merklin The Magician". He is the premier builder of Porsche Speedsters on the East Coast. His craftsmenship is second to none. He knows how to build cars the right way! The Speedster that he built for me took first place honors in every show that it was in. Al takes tremendous pride in every car that he has built. The white Speedster that you bought, Al unveiled at Carlisle last year. The car drew a great deal of attention. The car was nothing short of spectacular!! The color combination of the car really pops!! You will the envy of many! Welcome to the madness. We all encourage you to come out and be a part of the fun and commaradery at Carlisle. Congratulations on becoming the owner of one of the nicest, well built Speedsters around.
