Nice basic platform. You could drive just like this forever or punch it up a bit!

Has VS switched to JPS style door panels?  JC, is this the one the casino was giving away?

 

Yeah Bob,  I think basic setup is ideal for beginners as myself,
I planned on getting a coupe, but was convinced to try out a speedster to make sure I won't regret not having the open top. After 100 mile, I think I am set on a coupe.

Tom, yeah I believe so, I got it from the guy with 20 miles on it.
He said he had won the car and he didn't say nor did I when/where. It just fit the bill and it I had like a open top car I be keeping it for a very long time.

A Vintage was a prize at some casino recently according to a thread here on the site. I wonder if this was it?

I am looking for my first speedster. Really like the VS. Was thinking I would prefer a 1915 cc with the 3.88 transmission. Will be working in Anaheim area from 2/18 through 2/22. Would like to see the car. For those who know,is 1600 too tame? No offense jc. 

Also, is there value in the external oil cooler?

Anyone put retractable 3 point belts in theirs?

1600 too small.  Had 3-pts & swapped them for racing lap belts (like many others). 

The rear mounting point needs to be above your shoulder to avoid spinal injury.

What Tom said x2. Nothing wrong with a 1600 but over time you will probably want more power.

i am hungry for more power/torque

thats the reason i am selling this car,

not enough pickup, not snappy enough for me.

i am considering NOT selling and doing something to it to meet my needs.

 

what do you guys think i can get for the motor? 150miles on it.

 

I spend most of my driving between 0-45 around town & I wanted torque for acceleration.  Carey Hines set me up with a 1915 CB stroked to 2054.  The added stroke gives it the torque.  For my purposes, it's the perfect Powertrain.  That's one of the beauties of this platform (so I'm told), ease of swapping out an engine :-)

Try a 2332 c.c. mill.  That should give you the punch you want.  At least it's fine for me.  Henry Reisner supplied that in my car.

You can't go wrong with a CB engine.
