Steve, I had a Body.....and chassis. I then accumulate all parts necesary from E-bay, Vintage, JPS, Dario and others....14 months later Im driving. But Like the presious message related,,,your never really done. We always are adding and improving, much to the chagrin of our wives.

The first Speedster I built took about 550 hours after the first two or so, I am down to 400 to 450 hours not including the chassis shortening..... Alan
About 3 months of honest weekends so far. Ready to start preping the body for paint.
Maybe I hold the procrastinators award, but I bought my body from CMC in November of 1993, and the donor '69 VW the following August (I honestly thought you could mount one of these bodies on a chassis - don't even try it....)
Because of work (mostly) and family pressures it evolved slowly over ten (yes, 10) YEARS. Along the line I learned a lot and would never do it that long, tedious, highly customized way again. Instead, and yes, I would build another one, next time I would go the "deluxe" route and get it all wired and finished with a completed interior and then just shorten a pan, install the engine and put the body on.
