A SoCal event or you Rotary Gear-heads out there (Angela). This weekend, Mazda is sponsoring their 10th annual national gathering to celebrate the RX-7. Here is a link for more info.

This event is being held where the Cars & Coffee event normally meets Saturday morning (Irvine - SoCal). Subsequently, Cars & Coffee has relocated, for this weekend only, to the Cariso Ranch on the Ortega Hwy.

Peace - Out!

Won't be able to make C&C this Saturday. Besides, they are expecting some rain coming in Friday and into Saturday, which means there will definitely be a very strong possibility of thundershowers at the 2,500ft elevation of Rancho Carrillo (which I misstated as Cariso Ranch).

Be that as it may, the entry to Rancho Carillo is about 1/4mile past Caspers State Park on Ortega Hwy (8 miles east off 5 Fwy). The entry will be a red gate on the right side of the road. The gate address is 33420 Ortega Hwy, San Juan Capistrano for your GPS (if applicable). There will also be a $10 fee as this one-time relocation of C&C will be part of a fund-raiser event for the SJC Volunteer Fire Dept.

Once you enter the Rancho Carillo gate, the 6.5 miles of freshly paved roadway will climb 2,500ft with mountain and ocean vistas. As a matter of fact, this area is the backdrop for the Mazda commercial that shows the road spelling 'Zoom Zoom'.

The other event scheduled for this location after the car meet, is a horse show that you might enjoy watching. That begins at 10:00am.

I think you'd have fun at this event. If you do go, have fun and be safe!

BTW- I'll contact you early next week (phone & PM email) about an expedition I'm taking out to the desert that you may be interested in (I'll teach you the finer points off serious 4x4ing if you teach me a little about celestial navigation)

Peace - Out!
