Went last weekend (12/23/06 - 72 degrees) to the car meet formerly held at Crystal Cove, but now at the Ford Design Center in Irvine, SoCal. It's called Cars & Coffee now (keeping the CC moniker).

Anyway, here's a link to pictures from that morning. BTW, that killer 356C coupe with the turbo 911 mentioned on another thread was there. It looks incredible in person!

This comment is not to brag - just to put into perspective for many of the "not west coast" folks. A car show similar to that (and that was a good one) is probable held every single weekend somewhere within the greater Los Angeles basin. In fact, probably lots more than one.

I live in San Diego, which is about two hours south of L A, and there are car shows down here every night of the week (except Monday for some reason) for about ten months of the year. But I have never seen a Bugatti Veyron here yet! Like I said, not a brag, just a fact of life here. It sorta makes up for the perpetually gridlocked freeways.
Mickey-

This particular show (Cars & Coffee) is conducted EVERY Saturday morning 7-9am (rain or shine - though it's mostly shine). You will see a plethora of cars (both legal and non-street legal) drive in this free event. Many times Mr. McQuire (of car care products), Dan Gurney (famed race-driver), A & B list celebrities and manufacturer design teams in attendance. There is a meet similar in status conducted in the North LA area of Woodland Hills/Agoura (also on the attached link).

I've attached a link to a site that posts most of the car events happening in SoCal on various days of the week (as David mentioned).

Give me a holler the next time you're in the SoCal area!

Peace - Out!
Thanks Jim! I will definitely ring you up if and when I get out there again.
Man, Wilmington SUCKS! There used to be a dinky little car show every other weekend at this place but it closed down, not that it matters, they were the same cars everytime anyway. I can't believe that goes on every weekend!

Lambros, Street Legal, Schmeet Legal! Anyway who's gonna catch ya? Ha!
I drove my Speedster (Pearl, in my photos) to the "Porschefest" at the Museum of Transportation in Boston last Spring. I got there a little late and was directed to a place in the middle of the show field, away from all of the other 356's.

About mid-day, as I was rummaging around in the cockpit putting things away for my trip home, someone comes up to me and says: "I hope you're not driving that thing home like that."

I just looked at him and asked "and why not??"

So he replies; "Well, it doesn't have proper bumpers on it - THOSE are not street legal."

"And WHO are YOU?", I asked....."The Bumper police?" as I looked at my Nerf bars.

"I'm just telling you", he replied......."You'll never get two miles from here with those fake bumpers."

"Yeah, well.....thanks for your input, I think....." and I got into the car and drove it home (over 50 miles), have been driving it all over the east Coast ever since and never a question of it being "legal".

As my old boss used to say; "it's always easier to appologize afterwards than to ask permission in the first place."
