Are you saying you bought one?
If so, photos our it didn't happen.
I pray to God that this is not a new "order", but rather an actual car.
Is this the flood damaged one?

What is it you are trying to say, Jethro ? Was yours stolen and they found it ? Did you find one you'd like to buy ?
Someone steal mine and apply those upgrades - garage is unlocked. P.S. I don't have 10 years for its return though.
Frazoo. Jethro posted in a previous message that he was "well aware of the SAS problems."
Yes, I have been watching SAS for about 7 or 8 years now.
I want a Subaru powered replica, and a mid-engine one with a fairly waterproof top is very attractive. I also like that it is a Cabriolet, with a taller windshield.
I found one for sale, and I'm going to buy it. I just made the decision a few days ago.
The guy selling is a long time member of another board I frequent and I trust him. The car itself is pretty well represented on the net. If you watch the SAS youtube videos, the one I'm buying is in a few of the videos. The light blue (Porsche aquamarine) one with the motorized top.
It also has Vehicle Dynamics Control, Subaru's electronic stability control system with traction control. The components of the VDC system are: (1)Direction: uses brakes to slow down wheels to reduce spin and help control vehicle direction. (2)Skidding: yaw and steering wheel sensors use brakes to slow down spinning wheels and re-direct power to the wheel(s) with the best traction to re-gain control. (3)Engine power: controls engine output to slow spinning by reducing spark to cylinders to cut back power and help re-gain control.
I am researching shippers... anyone have any good leads on a good shipper? Should I pay more for enclosed shipping?
Troy, where is the flood damaged one?
From my understanding, Jethro bought this car from a guy on the SAS forum who bought it from John Eastman, a prior participant on this forum. Eastman had SAS build it, and it took 5.5 years to build. Eastman then sold it 18 months after purchase, for health reasons. The guy who bought it from Eastman kept it about as long. Jethro will be owner #3.
Jethro, just saw your post above. From my experience, it is a good investment to pay more for enclosed shipping.
I personally like enclosed shipping and it is not a whole lot more IMHO.
Sent you a PM.
I wondered where John Eastman's Cab ended up. Nice car, although I've personally only seen it two times - He joined one of my "Loafer's Lunch" tours just after he received it and it was truly a beautiful car. I guess some of the few SAS cars on the road DO turn up from time to time. There have been three re-sold in New England in the past few years and I've missed each one. (not that I had the money to buy them in the first place.....)
Congrats, Jethro......
Jethro, I think the diagnosis is in..... you already got the madness, it's confirmed. Welcome to the madness.
Right! WTTM. Looks as if you may have a winner.
Going to sell this:
In order to get this:
Both beautiful cars!
Jethro, I think you'll find that even though the Speedster's tank is half the size, stopping for gas will take a lot longer.
I would only go with enclosed shipping and make certain that if the cars are stacked, yours is on top. You don't want a "leaker" above you. You might confer with DRClock as well.
Go enclosed - much better for the car, and for you.
Hi Jethro. I am a newbie to this forum but I have seen this 356 on the SAS website many times. In fact I am one of those customers that have been waiting for Steve to complete my 356 project for many, many, many years. Nice vehicle. Hope you enjoy.
I have used both enclosed and open. The extra bucks for enclosed is worth it. WTTM
Enclosed and confirm they are moving it on their company owned truck and they are not a Bedroom Broker operation subcontracting it. You can confirm this by requesting their MC number which designates Owner Operator . Also have them fax a current Insurance policy face page
Thanks for the advice!
i made the mistake of getting a quote online... I have been barraged by automated emails from brokers, lol

Thanks!
I really like the lines on the 71-73 mustang convertibles. But, to be honest... I'm looking forward to the dependability of a Subaru drive train.

Because of people taking up conversation, right?
I think it has a 15 gallon tank.

A month from now you will still get inquiries " Trucker's in your area today " total scammers.

Jethro, John brought that car to Carlisle a few years ago. It's VERY nice. WTTM, but with that car there won't be much "madness".

I just might make the trip to Carlisle. We'll see. It might be too late to get a room.

Yup. You won't believe the attention the car draws - even from non car guys.
Little kids, soccer moms, slack-jawed millennials. People will hang out of their windows with cell phone cameras, while driving down the road next to you, just to get a photo of the car.
You're lucky, btw, if you have a 15-gallon tank. Most of us make do with the stock 8-gallon VW tank.

NO it's not too late, ...call for a room today~
VW tank--8 gallons? Not more like 10?
1967 tank holds 40 Liters or 10.6 US Gallons or 8.8 Imperial Gallons (Canadian)
Seems only a 12.5 gal large capacity tank is now available -

This tank can be used in any speedster replica that uses a VW gas tank. You must use CIP's gas cap. It may not allow enough room for a spare - even a T (Temp) spare.
My 67 tank holds 8 gallons. I'd love 10 or 12.
I think SAS might use 16 gal tanks if I remember. That's a huge deal.
Maybe my tank holds eight gallons of gas and two gallons of rust.
I find that no matter what tank size I ever had I found empty on most of my cars, much to my dismay at being stuck on the side of the road for not looking at the guage or thinking I had more miles that I could do with what was left. duh,
I bought the larger tank, advertised as 16 gal but from bone dry empty it only took 13gal no way in hell it holds 16
