"It needs a fuel injector (cost about 20.00) I have the magazine where the part can be ordered."
Sweet! A free magazine too!

What's the story on back fees in CA? Do you pay mandatory registration fee even when not on the road being used? I never registered my Speedster "kit" in VA - waiting on completion - hence no plates and pesky yearly personal property taxes.

I got my speedster from someone in Portland OR and he bought it from someone in Cali who took a bug frame and mated it to the speedster shell and never finished the build. I was living in cali when I bought it almost finished and when it came time to register it, it had over $3k in back registration fees.
It took me about 9 months to get it straightened out and between that time and a move to charleston. I still had to pay cali 15% of what was owed so I could get a "clean" title, but I eventually got it done. Cali says that once a car is registered in that state, all registrations fees have be paid yearly and if you take it off the road and don't let the state know it will rack up. And since the donor car was a 71 bug and that is how the state recognized and it was originally registered and driven in cali up until the time that it was cut up and made into the donor frame.

Wolfgang -- The Speedster population in our area is increasing every month. We're looking for something to do as a group; want some help on one of these sunny days?
I promise to leave the Saws-All at home ...

You can let the car drop from the DMV records. My brother had this happen with a Mustang. Hadn't been registered in 6 or 7 years. DMV had no record and the agent said it is common for the cars to drop from the computer systems after a number of years. Question is, how many years?

Cory - Suspect I'm beyond help. I started my CMC before my son was born. Before he was born I moved along rebuilding engine, suspension and shortening the chassis! Came to screetching halt and progress actually slid backwards when I got to wiring! Tonight I went to VA courthouse with my son (yup same one) to get his driver's license. Still laugh that the CMC literature says build takes 40 hours! My son is convinced I'll never finish the car - not sure what odds he'd get if he placed the bet. What's left to do? - wiring, windshield, bolt pan to body, attach hood (both front and top!) Ha, only about another 40 hours to go! Ha, then replace the 17 year old new Michelins - do they still make XZX's anymore?!
I'll supply the bier! (beer) Been hoping those guys on PBS "Pimp my ride" would show up at the door!
Backward repairs needed - broke brass T fitting for oil pressure when removing old gauges, big holes for Vintage gauges (gone to FL home), in dash thru which smaller VDO fall right thru, India made rubber boots on suspension disintigrated.

It's nice to see that Wolfgang is a kindred spirit. My daughter who was born after I started is much older than your son.
LOL - Mike - from the photo's you have posted you have at least another 40 hours of parts collection before construction can begin!

Wolfgang, without kidding even a little bit -- I'm pretty sure we can get that car running in less than two weeks. It won't be too awfully hard with a few helping hands, and we've got some eager helping hands locally.
I'd rather we come to you on a couple weekend gigs and have'er up and running in short order than have some teenie-bopper kidnap it and take it to some TV show shop. :)
Michael, you're next on the Cory-goes-to-the-post-office hit parade. I finally got Ben Ohta's tail light assemblies out today (after two or three months), and I have a team of archaeologists digging in my basement for the vents. I'm not going to install those door handles until the vents are on their way to you, I promise. :)

Cory,
I am not clear what vents your are talking about.
I wondered if you would get the door handles on after you said Hoopty was for sale.

Maybe I'm off the mark. Defroster vents.
I must have a worse case of the Old Guy Brain than I thought.

I remember you offering them to someone else. I don't remember who. Maybe he will speak up.

Wolfgang:
You have my full and undivided attention this weekend! I will be in DC supporting my wife in her venture (read... I am driving her ass up in her TT) I am only wanted for my 95-north-driving-experience! Cory told me that he will take to me to the BUD's creek Races this weekend, to which I am TOTALLY down with, but if you need any welding... tell me ahead of time so I can pack my shiteeeeeT and rods. I still owe for the shaft... out of contacts that is very funny.

Memory, we don't need no stinkin' memory.....what's those little things the nurse keeps putting on the tray next to my juice?
Cory, have you heard about the two fellows sitting in the living room and one says,"Last night my wife and I had a great meal in a really great restaurant". The second guy asks where and the first says, "What's that flower guys send to girls when they're courting, supposed to symbolize strong affection?" The second says "A rose?"
"Ya, that's it. Hey Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?"
Cory, the vents go to Carrollton, OH ME!!!

Okay, John -- I'll check the old mailbox for an address; when the diggers find 'em, they'll be on their way! Thanks.
Now, adding color, what do I owe Mike?
I need a notebook.
Dale, if we can set something up with Wolfgang, we could be in for a good time. Sounds like a plan.
