Issac.

I am having a heck of a time putting together a Sauder Entertainment Center kit for our youngest daughter's apartment. Darn thing seems to be short more parts than a late 80s CMC kit. Think your group could wing it down/over/up to Oklahoma for free and slap this fiber-board POS together? It might require some frame shortening to get the hutch on.

Ok, I'm joking. But, not about hearing more details. Is this a Vo-Tech Class Project type thing? I don't have a kit, but am curious on the free thing. That Always gets my attention!
Oh, and welcome to SOC.

Jim

Isaac,
I think you might have to "take a risk", and open up a bit more as to your motives behind this seemingly free ride. Before anyone interested, myself possibly included, in taking you up on your offer could seriously consider this.
You have mentioned not doing any drivetrain work, so what are you talking about? Body prep, painting, assembly, wiring, etc.?
Also, knowing your location might be useful for anyone considering your offer. You mention Carlisle, so are you on the East coast?
Cheers,
Jim

PS - Jim Ward might have different feelings about it, but I would always ask any bloke named James how they felt about being addressed as "Jimbo" before I used that nickname! :-)
First I would like to apologize to Jim Ward, I could swear that I read your name as TheJimboMan in a reply, I hope I did not offend you. Secondly, Jim Webby (this Jim thing could quickly become confusing), at this point I cannot release much more info than the following: We have built many Manx style buggies and are looking for a business change. We have done some heavy research on Speedster kits and have a great business plan going. As for the location, you are right about the East Coast, we are located in NW Florida near Pensacola.

What we are looking to do is to build a basic, clean, and well built
speedster. Ideally, we would get a complete kit that was never assembled, and we would build it for you just as you were planning to when you bought it. We plan on stripping the donor, shortening an IRS pan, refurbish suspension and brakes, prepare the body and paint it, install the body, interior, electrical etc. Basically build a complete speedster start to finish. The only thing we don't want to mess with at this point is the engine and transmission, there will be no time for rebuilding, so we are looking for working units.

What you get: your speedster built, ready to drive, and presented to you at Carlisle ready for you to drive home for only the cost of the parts (you can even source them yourself).

What we get out of it is excellent publicity for our new products & services at the Carlisle show by showing a classic speedster build that we have personally completed start to finish. Once the candidate is chosen, all project details will be disclosed.
Isaac,
To further confuse things, I'll be the 3rd Jim to enter on this topic. If your business decides to change their mind and work with a flared version, I have 2 kits that I am currently building. Both are old CMC kits that were never completed. One of the kits has never been touched. Haven't even cut down the frame yet. Have a 1969 VW IRS donor vehicle to use. Also, I am located about 60 miles east of you in Crestview, FL. I have already rounded up pretty much all the parts for both cars. If you're interested, just let me know. You can contact me at 850-423-4514 for more info.
Jim
Ricardo, Gary, Mel,
Thanks for your well-wishes. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and I will be able to return to enjoy my speedster. The only problem is that I will have 4 months in the sandbox to think of different ways to improve the speedster and another 4 months trying to complete it after I return. Hoping to be back in time to attend Carlisle this year. Looks like it will be without a speedster since I won't be here for finish it.
Mel, only wish I could have helped you out with the shipping of your car. Hate to haul an empty trailer anywhere, especially when it was within 100 miles of where you are located.
