The adjusters on my front beam do not have the tooth and pawl arrangement, but have a large screw pushing against a block that should be connected to the bar itself. (Avis?)

The screws are adjusted to the extreme with the screws run all the way in, pushing the body up / wheels down.... This, I believe, is the cause of my steering not returning to center after making a turn.... I have replaced the steering box, wheel bearings and outer tierod ends....

The car does not pull to one side or the other.... My thoughts are that the caster angle is out to lunch... I would like a little verification before springing for a front end alignment....

Any and all help appreciated.... A brief run down on what not to do with this type adjuster would be helpful...

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.....

Post a picture of your adjuster - usually it's the toothed adjuster (Avis) which adjusts with the grub hex screw against the torsion bars. Suspect yours is the Sway-Away version?

I'd get a set of the inexpensive $10 caster adjuster - that should fix steering wheel returning.
The height adjusters aren't the problem. Actually, increasing front ride height would slightly increase caster. I agree the caster shims are probably the solution.

Also, if you have a ball joint beam, make sure to check that the camber adjusters are rotated to give more caster not less. (ball joint pin offset towards front of adjuster/car)
Leon:

I'm right down there for lowering, and am now running about 2-4 extra degrees of caster. She would always return to center for me, but now the low speed heaviness in the steering is gone. I also found that I couldn't get enough camber with the stock eccentrics, so I installed the "extra-adjustable" camber eccentrics from CB and that allowed her to be dialed right in.

Que Muy Bueno!
