Although I haven't done it to the Speedster (yet) I did change out the front brakes to Discs on the Ghia. Bought the kit from CIP1.com and it was easy to install and stops the car on a dime and leaves 9 cents change. I called them to make sure they understood which parts I needed and they knew exactly what was needed.

I will be converting the Speedster to 4 wheel discs this winter.

Sure all parts can be bought at the same place. I changed the master cylinder in the Ghia because that little rubber plug at the top was leaking. Plug, $3.00, Master Cylinder, $25.00. Si I decided to buy a new one at the same time. NOTE: You still need to buy the plug since it does not come with the master.

I did need to update the ball joints as well for the conversion. They were cheap as well. While at it I changed the bearings.

But go on-line check out what you need then call them to place the order and they will answer your questions. An easy conversion, bolt in and go.
I've done 2 of the conversions - one my CMC Speedster and the other a '69 Bug. Most of the kits come with new bearings but often the backing plates (splash shields) are not included but are available at an extra cost ($20). Before ordering decide if you want lowered spindles (considerably more expensive) and supposedly they also increase you front wheel track by a couple inches (and could cause tire interference). If you plan to go to either Porsche 5 bolt wheels or wide 5 wheels consider that too since different rotors can be had. You will also need to replace the brake hoses with slightly longer ones - I went with quality stainless steel covered ones. If your ball joints or tie rod ends are at all questionable - replace them at the same time. Some say to replace the master cylinder with a Karman Ghia one (reason: different bore or internal pressure valve?)- but I did not on either conversion.
Chuck,

The swap over is a real nut and bolt together deal, do one side at a time and use the other for reference and you'll be all set. You will have to pay attention to the positioning of the camber adjusters so the you can duplicate that on the instal, and, as always, (like a broken record) drop spindles require caster shims.

Luck,

TC
