Brian,

I have a Standard (Non-Flared) Speedster with Drop Front Spindles/Lowered Rear Suspension.

The car still has Drum Brakes on a 1969 Chassis.

I'm converting to Disc Breaks however I don't want to have "Clearance Problems" regarding a "Wider Front Track".

I'm considering the early 4.5" - 5.5" - 15" Fuch's on Drop Front Spindles/Disc Brakes to maintain my current ride height/front Track on 165SR15 Tires.

This is the reason for my question.

Thank you,

Jack
Thanks Gordon,

I have seen a lot of Fuchs on the non-flared bodies and think they look great. I haven't seen that many on the flared bodies. I assume it is because of the wheel width of the Fuchs. Your's fill up the wheel wells well (say that last sentence three times fast).

Does anyone know what the widest rim size was on the Fuchs? I assume the tallest Fuchs were 16. But how wide did they get? What did the widest ones come stock on? Was it a mid 70's 911S?

Tony
Patrick,

Thank You for your reply, is you Speedster a Standard Body or flared and is your car Standard Ride Height or Lowered?

Did you utilize "VW Karman Ghia" front Disc's or another make of Disc Brake Kit. With the rear Drum Brakes, did you install a Brake Porportioning Valve?

Thanks for your earlier reply.

Jack
Chris,

I saw your pics of the 8" Fuchs, thanks. Say what color are you going to paint your car? Looks like it is going to be an awesome vehicle.

I've decided to go with 17" Boxster twist rims. I bought a set and will be running 7.5 in wide in the front and 9 in wide in the back.

Thanks

Tony
On my CMC flare, I run the 16J fuches, 6 inch up front and 7 inch in the rear. I run 205 50 16s front and 225 50 16 in the rear. I have a 1.25 spacer on the front discs and .75 inch in the rear. Lots of clearance up front, tight in the rea. You can see them in the files section under Jack Moore.
Jack,

The dropped spindles (2 1/2") I installed changed my tire clearance equation (2) ways. Obviously in up/down travel. But also when the wheel is turned close to the stops the fender lip comes into play side to side.

I re-adjusted my beam to get the car back up an inch or so and its working out so far.

When I first installed the spindles and fuchs my speedster had about 4" of nose clearance.... looked mean and nasty..but not very practical.

I also run 16J fuches, 6 inch up front and 7 inch in the rear. with 205 50 16s up front and 225 50 16s in the rear.

Sorry about my original post asking for a specific question. When I first saw your post it was empty except for the title. (look at the message post times....about 15sec apart. :-) ) You were in the middle of posting.

Brian
