I'm a former 550 Spyder Replica owner/driver who sold that car after 7 happy years in 2012 - and bought a front engined 'orphan' Porsche / 924 S - this is a very nice handling car with nearly 50/50 weight distribution and the lightweight body carrys a 944 engine making for relatively peppy driving.

.

I'm going back to a mid engined Porsche again (maybe a bit more modern one) - and need to make garage room.

I don't know this car well.  Would this be a good car to race through the back roads of Wisonson with?  This other group I run with(sounds like I'm cheating) runs a few spirted driving events from May to Oct.  Need to show up in a pre 1990 Euro car.  How much on average per year to keep her running?  The hardtop and big boot would be an added benefit for the long weekends.  Thanks.

Marty - thanks for your interest - I'd think for a 'pre-90' sports car group - this one would hold up and keep up well, and as you say, it's got a nice amount of interior space under the 'greenhouse' back window and back seat - I've done drives with the Porsche Club recently - lots of twisty No California roads and lots of more modern Porsches - and this one kept up quite well - left a few Boxster owners shaking their heads wondering how a 27 year old car could keep up with them.  Basic maintainance shouldn't be too expensive - but it is a 27 year old car and even a well kept 27 year old car will have miscellaneous things go on it.....if your handy, and/or have a good local independent Porsche mechanic - you should be fine.

Tom - The plan is to find a nice 06 or 07 Boxster S to fill the soon-to-be emptied garage space.....I had a '98 Boxster and enjoyed it for 12 years - an 8 or 9 year newer 'S' seems like a good next 'fun' car  - it still won't be quite as much fun as the '02 'Beck' 550 Spyder Replica I had from 2005-2012 though - ......Rick
