Front hood latch

HELP...would someone please look in the SOC LIBRARY, FiberFab, 1985, version B, and click on the FiberFab-032 page. I'm trying to identify the origin (model/year) of the "upper lock ass'y" and the "lower lock ass'y".

VW type 3 front hood latch off of squareback or fastback.

Sorry, all of these latchs look the same but check under them. The cable might come from the rt or lt. Check to see which one you need.

I would assume that I need one with the cable exiting the assembly towards the drivers side. I see what appears to be the old CMC latch assembly in the parts portion of the Vintage Speedsters web site, but $60 seems excessive.

This is for an ongoing "seat of the pants" build. No manual that suits all the details of the Mexican built body/frame combo.

I rely on the old CMC/Fiberfab manuals as a very general guide, occasional advice from folks on the SOC site, then try to design around the differences. Truly a lot of fun.

For instance, the shortened "69 frame had no floor pans, and the aftermarket pans that I bought were not wide enough. I wound up making my own 1/8" thick 6061 aluminum floors with steel channel supports under the seat areas.

The Ghia cable comes from the pass side. The lever is in the glove box.

I have a new one that I picked up about a year ago.I dont have the top latch but that is a Ghia part. You can have the bottom if its the one you need. It is missing the small screw that holds down the cable(you can buy it at a hardware str).

I believe that is the one I have. It is NOT the same as my Ghia's(cable from the left).
