Front hood latch mechanism

did just the cable break, or did the actual mechanism break? 

I had problems with mine soon after I had gotten the car.  Turns out the cable had just stretched a bit.

It looks like the mechanism broke, it definitely came apart, take a close look at the picture it's just hanging there on the wire, i'm going to look at it more closely when i get home . The cable is not broken.

One way or another i'm going to need a new one, it never really worked smoothly.

Thanks Scott, i just noticed you gave me the link to the part i need.

Make sure you lube it up good so it does not bind. I would ask Vinny on his recommendation,he has experience with ALL different kinds of lubes......

As a Refrigeration -HVAC mech. i understand the importance of lubrication, i'm forever lubricating motors, bearings, shafts, gears, etc. 

i ordered the hood mechanism part from Vintage Speedsters yesterday. I also just drilled out the old hood mechanism . I'm thinking about just putting 4 screws and a nut for future practicality purposes , it's also under the hood and not seen.

She, also looks like she understands the importance of lubrication, she's absorbing it, the shaft is the only thing missing.
