Andres, some guys brave it and put the front plate in the trunk. I don't know, or remember (I grew up in Syracuse) how sticky the troopers are about that there. I am fortunate in that I now live in a state that only has rear plates.

I called Kirk at Vintage when I was trying to figure out what to do in Illinois, which also requires front and rear plates. I think he suggested just a generic bracket that would be found on a sixties era VW. I took the plate in the trunk tack and didn't have any problems, but that was with mostly sunny day driving. I am not aware of a bracket specifically designed for our cars, but maybe others will have suggestions as to what they have done.

ps. These cars look soooooo much better without the front plate attached.

I think most states require a front license plate but most of us don't display it on the nose. I always carry it with me in case I get pulled over. I also had a collector car in the midwest for years and never displayed one either. Never got stopped for it. If you have it with you and get stopped, just tell the law that you are on your way somewhere to buy one! Usually works without a fine. Besides the plate is rather ugly on the front, don't tell the cop that!
Andres,
NLA makes one, part number "NLA 58 140", they're spendy $40.00. I can't imagine not being able to make one out of a couple angle brackets, for a couple bucks. Here in AK we're required to have front plates too. So far I've carried them under the passenger carpet. Haven't been stopped yet. I'll keep it that way till I'm warned. Happy Turkey day all!

Guys:

I agree that the car looks terrible with a front plate. I guess I will take the chance like all of you suggested. I had a 69 Porsche and it did not come with a front plate holder. The previous owner drilled holes in the front bumpers and used the angled brackets. Worked but looked horid. I will just have to take the chance in order to keep the car looking good.

Thanks and enjoy the holiday.
Ha! What would the cops have to aim their RADAR gun at if you didn't have a flat plate mounted to reflect the beam back? I've yet to see a new Pontiac Solstice with a front plate --- appears it would have to sit on the dash.

Some year ago i observed a vehicle in John Steele's shop that had an easily attached (and easily removeable) front licnse plate bracket. The attaching bracket was affixed to the steel bar that protrudes thru the front fiberglass to secure the front bumper or nerf bar. The bracket was made from several short lengths of aluminum flat bar and angle. the whole assembly quickly attached with one bolt to the bumper bracket. It was pretty ugly and the owner kept it in the front trunk. He seemed very confident if stopped for this violation, he could easily put it on and escape with only a verbaal warning.

Here in California, there is not a single Corvette or Porsche in the entire state that wears the required front license. That includes my speedster and my Ford truck. Cops will not stop you for just that offense, but if stopped for other reasons (i.e. speeding) it will be included as a "vehicle deficiency" and require formal correction (inspection by DMV).
I've noticed in CA that alot of cars either have no tags or some dealer tag.
The front tag on my Ranger P/U fell off about 5 years ago and I never replaced it. There seemed to be a vibration that loosened the bolts that held it on. Never been stopped (watch, it'll happen today) or asked about it during safety inspection. I've got one on the tubb but I think I'll take it off and carry it in the trunk.
