I'm going to trying going with just the stock dog house oil cooler. If my oil temperature run too high I'll install an external oil cooler, but I'll probably mount it close to the engine.
I was cruising the German look forum and came across a guy (situated in Germany) who sells a beautifully made German dry sump pump http://www.germanlook.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10425
I'd love to go that route, but I don't think my crank fired pulley would clear the dry sump pump.
David,
Don't abscess. Keep'er as original as possible. The unnecessary "stuff" that you add, each addition pulls HP from the engine were the wheels meet the asphalt. So does the oil cooler (added weight and uses HP to pump).
Oil coolers are great when towing. :<)
I don't add it if the HP doesn't go up.

Aaron, I needed an oil cooler. The 911 fan shroud has no provision for a cooler inside. Most Spyder drivers have a remote cooler out of necessity.
Dan,
Having fun with the West Coasters. I get concerned that my CB Performance Special doesn't get hot enough. The temp gauge hasn't gotten over the 1/3 mark.
I'm looking for a 911 Targa 1988 with motortronic fuel injection and a G50 transmission. This one will be my long distance traveler. Wife will not ride very far in the speedy.
Of course, there are cases were an externally located oil cooler is necessary such as yours. Gotta get rid of the heat somehow. I hope no one has or places their oiler cooler were the ejected hot air can be sucked into the air intakes. That can be a real problem.
