On my quest to make everything good and safe on this car I noticed when I was replacing the front shocks that both nuts on top of the shock tower were loose and should have been much tighter.   Not because the nuts had backed off, but because the bushings had compressed, a lot.
My question is,  will the loose rubber bushings effect anything performance wise?

The top rubber bushing is new, the bottom was on the car originally (20 years old).

If the shocks are 20 years old, I'd just replace them. New shocks come with new bushings.

Yea, that’s what I did, replaced them.   I don’t think the old shocks are bad just the bushings.   Do bad bushings or loose bushings change the handling characteristics?   I put another pair of cheap oil Cofap’s on.

Worn bushings might make the ride quality a touch harsher. I don't think it would really change the handling characteristics unless the bushings were pretty well gone, as in totally absent. Then you would hear rattling over every crack in the pavement. I'm also somewhat sure you'd feel it in the steering wheel as well.
