I'm tearing into my '94 IM roadster's front balljoint suspension and could use some advise.  It has a height adjuster only on the lower beam and the feel and ride is VERY stiff.  It has oil shocks.  I've played with the ride height a little to make sure the shocks are within their travel limits, of course that doesn't change the spring rate.  I'm trying to remove the leaves from the adjustable beam but they are stuck in the adjuster.  I've removed the smaller leaves and I'm down to the 4 main ones.  A couple of weird things are one of the 4 leaves is thinner is thickness than the others and the grub? bolt in the adjuster has no pointed taper like all the others(rounded, looks stock?) and I see no hole in the leaves (looking into the adjuster slot) for the bolt to key into.  I don't know who made the adjuster but seems to me the leaves should to anchored like a stock beam?  Anyone know about the different adjusters out there?

I've read on a lot of forums about changing the spring rate so I plan to remove all the small leaves on both beams to leave just the 4 main ones top and bottom to soften the rate. I'm concerned about the one thin leaf not fitting correctly in the adjuster and trailing arm keepers plus I can't get them out anyway at the moment.  Why one thin one is a mystery.  This leaf does have part of the tapered hole on both sides for the trailing arm grub bolts.  The upper beam doesn't have any of these issues.

With all the repairs I've done I probably should have started with a new beam and trailing arms.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

the adjust has a  set scew on some of these car  I tore mine down several times before i nailed it  you should do well  but the ajuster will give you a fit getting your ride height  its welded in as you know and has a travel limit.

My solution was to drill and tap a new hole in the colar that the springs fits in  (tricky) i bought a second ajuster just to have a spare colar to re drill give you 4 chances   if miss drilled.  And it was a wise thing to do.

It can be done but you like have to be very precise and paceint
