Well last week it was loose (passenger side) so I tightened it and seemed fine, loose again. So I took that bearing (outside) out and noticed that it was toast. So I bought new bearings at the local auto parts store. It's a bearing used for trailers.... :)
Went home and replaced it. Went for test drive....wow.... but noticed now the drivers side 'felt' like it was grinding. Went back home and that one was on it's way out. Replaced that...
Now the question: I noticed on the passenger side the spindle has a slot for the washer before the lockable not. The drivers side had no slot and didn't have a washer. Is there supposed to be one? I went to the hardware store and bought a 5/8 washer and ground it down to size and put it in. Isn't the washer there to help keep the grease in when it gets hot?
When I adjust bearing play I always do it with the wheel ON and tighten until there is some catch and go back a smidgen! Until it turns without binding and there is no movement at 12-6..
Actually that's 2 questions. As usual I thank you for your input.
