I need advise.
Purchased a beautiful set of NOS chromed 'Centerline appearing' welded 15x5" rims manufactured by CalMakers...paid high asking price and drove ten hours roundtrip to bring them home, so I've got a lot invested in $$ and expectations.
My VS has disk brakes on all corners. These rims mounted without problems on the rear, but caliper interference prevents mounting the front two. To gain clearence I've shaved (grounded) the caliper casting as much as I dare...but not nearly enough.
Has anyone solved this problem with washers as spacers placed between the rotors and rims?
I've thought of positioning (supergluing) hardened steel washers directly over the threaded bolt holes on the rotors assuming that the pressure from the torqued mounted rims, and the bolts as pins, would keep them in position. The hardened steel washers I've found are about a 1/10" in thickness, and I'll need two per threaded hole (nearly quarter inch off-set for clearence)....OR, is there an after market wheel off-set adaptor available??
My Mangels and baby moons are a pleasing combination, but there was a black speedster at Carlisle that sported these rims...and it was seductive!!...and at my age I need all the help I can get.
