Ok, I'm on the fence about selling my speedster but I've been thinking about trying something new. I purchased my Vintage Speedster in Feb of 2001, black with tan interior, upgraded brakes, 1776 motor with dual carbs, sport exhaust, and Kirk upgraded the suspension to give it tighter handling. All badging, weave floor mats, full and half tonneau covers, basically everything but A/C. I also had a perimeter alarm installed in the car to prevent people from sitting in it. Yes, for some reason people feel it's ok to sit in your speedster when it's parked. :)

So, basically I don't drive the car. I spend most nights polishing it and waxing it. It must have 2 inches of wax on it. It has 1300 miles on it and I've had all the service performed by a local, reputable Porsche mechanic. I've had the carbs adjusted and the oil changed but the last time I took the car to get serviced (oil change) my mechanic spent a good hour berating me for not driving the car. Apparently the engine hasn't been broken in yet (I've never taken it on the freeway and it's never been in the rain) and there wasn't much for him to do on the car.

Thought I might try to find a good home for it. I've got plenty of pictures and can provide all service records (2). Car is located just outside of Seattle. Asking 19,000 firm. Paid 24,000. I can be reached at ksozay0911@hotmail.com

Take care,

K.

What your suffering from is driveaphobia. I had the same problem many years ago with a 66 912 that I restored. I spent so many hours making it perfect that I couldn't bear to see anything happen to it...so I sold it. I regret doing so. I fixed the car up and I should have driven it and ENJOYED it.

Women, Ironically don't seem to suffer from this affliction. You could give most women the keys to a vintage one of a kind porshce or anything and the first thing they would do is drive it to the mall and squeeze it into the closest space next to the front door, and go shopping for a few hours.

I almost started to fall back into the phobia thing when I first got my speedster back in january. Here's what I did.
1.Tell yourself it's just a vw pan with a fiberglass body.
2. Understand it can be replaced, it isn't a rare one of a kind car.
3.Park the car in your driveway with the top down. Turn and walk back into the house...no staring out the window at it. Let it sit for a few hours.
4.If you have a wife or girlfriend let her drive the car.
5.Take the car out and drive it like you stole it. Tell yourself if something breaks I will fix it.
6.Get your hand dirty or greasy and touch the car. Leave the print on the car. Walk away.
7. Listen to a woman tell you how silly you are being about the car.

I would hate for you to cheat yourself out of the fun of truly driving the car. Just remember who ever you sell the car to is not going to treat it as well as you have and will most likely drive the hell out of it.
