The car was originally built in '92 by a CB Performance in CA for the first owner. Pretty much a plain jane build w/stock 1500cc, the second owner bought it and did a lot of upgrade work, adding the Fuchs style wheels and the nerf bars, added the oil cooler and had a new engine built, the current 1905cc w/dual Webers 44s.

Rewiring was done to get all the electrics to work, upgraded the ignition, dist and coil, new plugs, oil change, added a new A-1 Sidewinder exhaust system, etc. The pan is rust free, no holes or anything, there is some minor surface rust though as the undercoating applied when built has come off in places. It has a stock '68 transaxle with a Bugpack 'quickshift' lockout shifter, it had a new performance clutch and pressure plate installed along with the engine. There is aprox. 24K on the car and 10k on the drivetrain. I carpeted the trunk area, installed a 4500btu aux. heater and an new stereo and speakers.

Additional items:

Outlaw style bonnet straps

VS Outlaw style headlight mesh

Upgraded LED headlights

Hella 700 aux driving lights (yellows)

Currently removed bumpers (I have nerf bars and original bumpers)

CB Performance front sway bar

CB Performance rear camber compensator bar

Suspension replaced with VW OEM blues (replaced worn out air shocks)

New OEM steering damper (kept it German)

Original Emory 356 Outlaw badge on boot grate

Porsche 914 gauges

Has full tonneau top and soft top with window cards

EMPI breather box

Car runs out fast. Power to weight is on its side! Highway final gear- runs 70-80 easily. With all the stiff stuff on now the car runs on rails and properly oversteers when needed.

The glasscoat shines up well but needs a redo to get imperfections out. Also from the PO, there are some stress webbing on a small part of the left qtr panel and on front near hood latch. No cracks. I was going to either vinyl wrap or respray it.

Front ball joints are a bit tired, I have new replacements but haven't gotten around to pressing them in. (Had another baby in Sept)

I bought this as a project wanting to redo the interior (the caramel color isn't my favorite), possibly repaint, add VS style wide rear ****s type rims, add elect fuel pump, etc.

I need better pics bc car is garage kept under silk and it's cold out currently! I'll follow up with more.

With a the family expansion, I had to replace this project and wanted something for the fam with a rear seat- found my roundie 2002tii. SO...this one has to go!

Car resides in central NC.  Asking 18k OBO.

Wow!  That's a lot of car for the asking price!   Looks like it has been well sorted out over the years, too, and the "upgrades" you haven't gotten too (ball joints, interior) are relatively minor.  This is a really good deal.   I'm curious about the heater (saw that right off and said "WTF?")  What brand is it?  Good size for that car, but didn't look familiar.   Great, clean installation, too!

Engine has all cooling tins in place- the foamy rand needs a little love. The entire engine is properly sealed in the rear. The front area is open by the firewall for cool air intake.

Heater brand I'm unsure of- I'll check tonight and update the post. I ran the blower tubes from the heater to the front vents. I have a box of speedster parts that had vents in there, so decided why not!

@DUBTUB your car looks great! I think the black wheels, roll bar, black stripe, no-bumpers adds to the bad-a$$ look of your Speedster!

Thanks! Was going full Outlaw with it... but it's all totally reversible too. I plastidipped the chrome Fuchs- so it can be removed and obviously all the hardware (bumpers and emblems, etc) can be reattached.
