Found YouTube video with 911 copy wheels. Looked fantastic. Would really work with my black Martini livery. Any advice on this change or suggestion for wheels?

For one thing, you’d have to change your brakes. Fuchs are typically 5x112 bolt pattern. IIRC, Someone makes a Wide Five version but IMO they don’t look very good.
It’s not worth changing brakes. I was afraid it would be complicated. Maybe later! Thanks 😎
I have a set of real Fuchs 5-spoke rims from a 911 and they are 5 X 130 bolt pattern, NOT 5 X 112 as noted above.
Still, if you're moving from a wide five (what are those, a 205 bolt pattern? ) to a Fuchs you will still have to at least change your hubs, so it's still a big deal.
again Augment wheel Canada makes whatever U need
Thanks again. Don’t want to start something I can’t finish without rebuilding the whole car! That Spyder also had a 6 cyl Porsche engine that sounded fantastic and accelerated rapidly. The video was about 8 years old and is hard to locate on YT.

That’s what I thought Gordon, but I googled to double check and that’s what came up.

^^^What Gordon said^^^ 911 wheel pattern is 5x130 mm. When machining 4x130 Beetle drums or Karmann Ghia rotors 1 hole is kept. There are replica Fuchs drilled in 5x112 mm; I believe they are done that way for late Bus.
@Jerry Avis tell us more about the 6-cylinder Spyder you saw. There aren’t many 6-cyl Spyders out there, and if it was black it might be Angela and Steve Lane’s out in Medford, Oregon. There is an inside chance that it might be coming up for sale in the next few months (get out your checkbook!). Angela shows up on the Speedster owners Facebook page so you might contact her through that.

Well, yeah, but not always. My Airkewld brakes would require a change of bolt pattern ONLY. No hubs, calipers, or pads need to be changed. I would have to take the wheel off, then remove 5 bolts and swap the bolt pattern. Then put my Fuchs or whatever on.
I need four of these:

I'm sorry but everyone else has to buy new brakes...

You'd need new drums, which aren't expensive($200 a pair or less). And a new front brake kit(about $500). So, it's doable and not CRAZY expensive, add wheels and tires.
It was battleship gray. Owner is Brian something. That video only appears sometimes in a search. It’s 8 years old. Took screen shots from the video. Will try to add here. I think he was selling it back then. No voice on the video - just the lovely engine sound accelerating. Must be quite expensive 💵!

The 6 cylinder videos are scattered. Best way to find all is search “Bryan Boardwell”. One is just photos of the car and engine with good detail. The others are POV drives. The last one has good sound. Shifting at higher revs it sounds very nice, especially as he lifts to shift. I could listen to that for hours🤣
It would be nice to know the specs on that Spyder. He does have a 901 5 speed transmission, but I'm not sure of the engine designation.
I imagine that car scoots along quite nicely...
Run video #3 says it is a 2.4 1973 high compression twin-plug. Easily 200-230 hp, maybe more IMHO.
The car came from Carrera Coachworks, which evolved out of Thunder Ranch. Carrera Coachworks was relatively short-lived. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the DeDion tube rear suspension, basically a live-axle.
I figured that - of anyone - you would look at these videos...
I'll take another look - and a listen.
Still trying to decide if it’s worth trying. I definitely prefer these wheels to the current setup, although it looks more authentic.
Wide 5 original wheels are what most people use, and in that pict it has the hub covers, for the outlaw looking spyder... IMO while nice shoes work the more period looking appearance is wide 5.
I found the spec sheet on my car and this is what’s mounted now:
Powder coated gunmetal gray Wide 5-lug staggered wheels with Dunlop SP Sport A2 tires / P185/65/15 front and P195/65/15 rear.
The tires are pretty meaty. I should probably just enjoy this classic setup😎

Drive it like that for a year or two you should be fine
You’re right! Modernizing it could lead to mounting a huge GT3 wing 😱😱😱
Joe and I were following Danny at Carlisle a few years back and he just took off so fast in that spyder as we nearly lost him Maybe he had his wings
I get my speed thrills in my Lotus Evora 400. The Spyder is best for Sunday cruising. It’s very pretty and classical, but i don’t see it as hot rod to go terrorizing Hellcats 🤣🤣. It’s incredibly rare in Hawaii and everyone loves it. The neighbors even enjoy the exhaust racket🤗
@Jerry Avis- Fuchs (real or fake) would look good, but as mentioned, not period correct and more work/$$$ due to the change in bolt pattern. I'm a fan of genuine Fuchs due to the weight thing- a 5½x15" weighs 11 pounds and change with a 6 only 1 pound heavier, as opposed to 20 or so lbs. for the same size steel wheel. I believe the cast wheels weigh in at 15-16 lbs, so while lighter than the steel wheels, not quite as good as originals. And if you're talking Performance- WEIGHT IS EVERYTHING!
1 way to change it up a little- Vintage 190 aluminum wheels- keeping the 5x205 pattern would stay (somewhat) authentic, less than $200 per wheel so not overly expensive, buying them polished would add a little bling (they do come in silver powdercoat as well, it that turns your crank), and, being aluminum, the 9 or 10 pound weight saving (per corner) will improve handling, acceleration, braking and mileage (ok, the last 1 only maybe a wee bit but it's still a benefit!).
The bottom line- do whatever the hell you want, as these are replicas and it's your car. The P purists (and anyone else who thinks their opinions matter) can kiss our collective @sses for all I care.
Hope this helps. Time to go back to bed now (that's what I get for eating so much chocolate so late!) Al
PS- Great looking Spyder! I love the Martini colors against the black- got another pic that shows it off better?
As Al said, it's a replica. At the end of the day it's your car so do what pleases YOU.
Having said that, your black car with Martini livery is a bit different, so this gives you license to stray from "standard".
If it was mine, I'd put polished Vintage190s on it, the shiny silver would really stand out against the black paint. Keep the polished drumskins.
Watching a 911 moving slowly the Fuchs turning always captivate me. New 911 wheels no matter how special look so boring to me.
After all this I think I’ll keep it stock a for a while and see if I still want to change them. I’m not a real purist, but the stock look might lose its charm with any distractions. I’m also debating a fairing/head rest with red cushion. At least it’s a natural addition.
The black/Martini seems very rare. Haven’t found any on the internet. I did find a white version, it lacks the contrast. Will add some more photos below 📸

Jerry, I have a 2016 Vintage Spyder in white. Red darts, red seats, driver headrest.
I also have the Vintage 190 wheels in silver powdercoat, so I "might" be a little biased! LOL!
It's no secret that I have a preference for non-silver paint schemes. My original 2002 Spyder was silver, no darts. In 2010 I had it painted like above, drove that for 5 years. Crashed it in 2016 and got a new car that fall. It's been on the road since May 2017.
The new Vintage is really nice compared to the 2002. They made so many detail changes and upped the fit-and-finish by a good margin. It's a NICE ride.

Love to see a profile shot. The new Boxster Spyder fairings are not as tall and blend in better. These do look a bit bolt-on. I think two might look more factory. My tonneau cover makes installation and use more of a hassle. White is very pretty!
The headrest looks really nice in profile.
I’m amazed you can walk away from a crash in these cars! Around here every vehicle is a huge SUV or larger. My Spyder looks like a toy car🤣.
if you you’re on Instagram, I’m “mrlotus74” and have lots of photos there.
Honestly, the factory wheels do look very plain. I really wish I never saw that video and now can’t forget it😓. The opening of Le Mans with McQueen driving his 911 slowly shows off the wheels nicely.

I like the pronounced size of your Fender Darts, seems to add enough of a contrast without going too far like the earlier racers

I've forgotten- are those wheels on McQueen's 911 in the movie bare aluminum or factory paint detailed?
@barncobob posted:seeing some resemblance here 21 Por 718 spyder
I've delivered two of the 718 Spyder and as such have had a chance to drive them. There aren't any available used yet but I may have to seriously consider getting one as soon as one becomes available.
Adding a screen shot of the McQueen 911. It’s a bit blurry. That scene was so well done.
The fender darts on mine give life to a black body. The red darts on a white body are very nice too. I don’t know if light colors really need the darts. Such a beautiful design either way.
Think I’ll add the driver side fairing headrest and then decide if the other side would make it more complete. The red cushion should look nice on black. I have red seat belts but brown seats.
Also deciding on the vanity plate. Either BLKWID or RAKNID. Hawaii only allows 6 characters.

A passenger side fairing would probably obstruct your rear ward view.
But hey, it's your car, so you do you.
