Didn’t think about that. Being so low, everything else towers and should be visible though. A nasty neighbor said I should have a tall orange flag on my windup toy car to avoid getting squashed. He’s off my Xmas card list now🤣
@ALB queried: “ I've forgotten- are those wheels on McQueen's 911 in the movie bare aluminum or factory paint detailed?”
Big Al: I’m unaware of any “painted detail” early Fuchs. At least on the earlier 911s with the 5-spoke wheels we all love, they were either black anodized everywhere (spokes and background) or black anodized background with polished spokes. They may have offered fully polished, but I don’t know.
I’ve seen a very few with colored backgrounds - Reds, light yellow, etc - but suspect those were done by the owner and not a factory option (but may have been a dealer option.) Porsche dealers are known around here for doing some pretty radical stuff for their (well paying) customers.
I know the spokes and rims were silver anodized, Gordon, but I think the black was paint on factory Fuchs wheels. And you are right- most colored wheels (other than black) were owner (or could have been dealer) painted. Every custom painted Fuchs I've seen has been black paint underneath.
Carlos, those cars look familiar somehow...
