Lately there has been a handful of instances of "bad gas" . . . go ahead . . . I'll wait . . . no, really . . . All through? Good.
So, as I was trying to say, here in the NE, we've been hit with more than a few shipments of contaminated fuel to more than one or two gas stations over this past Winter. We all remember the Carlisle incident of a couple of years ago. With gas running SO high lately, a contaminated tank full is a VERY expensive pain in the neck.
I was wondering if a fuel separator type filter and housing, like the one in the Rabbit diesels, would work with high test gas, or even VP? If anyone's seen them, they're neat little housings with banjo fittings and a screw-on filter canister that has a drain at the bottom. Mainly meant for removing the water that settles, but I think that it would be great for water, contaminants, silt, or anything else that's heavier than gasoline. I kinda figure that the gas will flow fine through the upper filter since the heavier/thicker diesel flows just fine.
Any ideas/thoughts/comments? I SUPER wanna try it, but was wondering if anyone knew if it had already been tried and if it was or would be successful.
Thanks !
